Email folders and collapsing them

The Gmail app allows one to collapse/expand subfolders.

Install the Google app. Sign in. Select Gmail.

I saw my first level "folders" and no "sub-folders". The top level "folders" which had "sub-folders" had a + at the right hand side. Tap the + and the folder was expanded. The + was replaced with a -. Tap the -, and all the folders collapsed.

I will be anxiously waiting to hear if IOS7 has addressed this issue.

Nope, they didn't.

They had enough time to create frosted glass effects and other stuff that nobody needs and forgot once more the #1 flaw of this OS.

I just got my new iphone. Being a business user and having moved from Android I am becoming very frustrated with this device. I decided to move because my wife and children all have apple devices and using facetime to communicate is a big plus with all my travel. Also all the applications to remotely control music in your house seem to work better than what I have used in Android.

But with a lack of such simple fundamental features such as being able to collapse folders in the email application, I am seriously considering returning the iphone before my 30 days are up and getting the newest Android device.

I hope Apple finally will realize that serious business users will not user their devices without some simple features.

Been using iPhones for many years but my workplace only just sorted out the ability for us to access emails remotely through an exchange server.

First thing I noticed was the inability to collapse folders. Searched, found this thread. Can't believe it's been going on this long.

For the love of God, Apple! Please please fix this.

Has anyone from Apple responded to this discussion yet? It's been ongoing for 3+ years.

Emailganizer is the answer, although why Apple can't fix this is totally beyond me!

I like emailganizer, but since my phone is sync'd up to an exchange server, my email gets setup anyways on the default mail app. There's no way around it.

Also, when I want to quickly send documentation over email (like a picture I took of equipment, a quick voice memo, notes..), I can't do that over emailganizer. Mail app is too integrated and convenient to ignore. I can't just use both (both have their pro's and con's).

The iphone has been the one of the most powerful all-in-one tool I use for work ever. It's a complete shame that it does not have collaspable mailbox. It's also unfortunate, that because of this, I've looked into getting the Nokia Lumia, as I see the Microsoft OS to be superior in nearly every aspect (layout, documents, mail, etc). It's even more suited for my work; especially since we do a lot of RDC, and work in a windows environment. I've seen users interface their Lumias with their work desktop so seamlessly, I'm jealous.

I'm sorry Paketa your being totally unreasonable this thread only started 4 years ago show a bit of patience will you Apple are not made of money and don't have the resources to fix things at the drop of a hat!

It's not as if Apple is arrogant about its stuff and forcing you to take what they want you to have. I mean it would be such a reasonable thing to be arrogant after Steve Jobs has died and the great creative energy that perhaps justified a little arrogance in the first place has gone.

I posted on this a long time ago, Interesting Apple would not respond to this or do this simple fix. Last month, i gave up and went to Samsung Note 3. Hard choice for me as i am dedicated Apple. Well have to say the Note 3 has a large number of things better than iphone now and collapable folders just one of them. Never coming back to the iPhone. Really sad as they had such an amazing product.

Sarcasm apart if you look in the thread I also was on apple years back loved it but then they stopped listening to their customers and I went to android and have not looked back The Note 3 is great I use Aqua Mail its brilliant

I used the iPhone feedback form - it highlighted that Apple has simple lost its attention to detail. While clearly a form for iPhone feedback only, the operating system selection is all iMac versions with no 7.1 to be seen. Hopeless - Jobs must be rolling in his grave may he rest in peace. It is such a simple thing I refuse to believe they can't add this to the next update. It must literally cause 1000's of people headaches. I can't believe I had to re-order my work email folders to allow quicker access to certain folders on the iPad. Neither ways works well for me on the desktop and via the iPad and iPhone - yet collapsible folders on Apple devices would immediately fix the problem. As soon as other devices improve their security, I foresee many a company opting for their competitors devices for their workforce.

I have the solution, Get Office 365 and then you can use the free Microsoft OWA ipad and iphone email app. Runs just like out look has all your folder and you can collapse them etc. Also keeps you contacts and appointments on all devices and PC too.
