Certain printers have Bluetooth installed. Then you need to get their iPhone app, too. So check the App Store and see if there is a bluetooth print app for your printer.

So to jump in for just a second (and please forgive the promotion of HP products), the HP Printers that support AirPrint also support an HP technology called ePrint. This lets you submit print jobs via email from anywhere it the world. We'll also be updating it for other submission methods other then email. So if you get an HP Printer that supports AirPrint, as an extra benefit, you also get an HP Printer that supports ePrint

Just trying to help.

When you say "no problem at all" - I am running OS X Lion Server, that is serving VPN addresses in the same IPV4 domain and subnet as the main network.

While connected to the VPN on my Macbook, I cannot print to the printers (one is shared from an iMac, the other is a WiFi printer).

While connected to the VPN from an iOS device, the 2 printers don't show up on the AirPrint list. While connected to the local WiFi, they do show up.

What am I missing? Perhaps there is some advanced configuration I need to do to allow routing of traffic between the VPN and local network?

I am having the same problem as Jay. My setup is slightly different, but it is the same idea. I have my printer connected to my Windows PC and shared through Windows. I can print to it from my iPhone when on the WiFi locally after installing AirPrint for Windows. However, when I connect using VPN, I cannot see the printer from my iPhone. The VPN server is the same computer the printer is hooked up to, and I am being assigned an IP in the same subnet as the LAN. I am running Windows 7x64 and have an iPhone 3GS running iOS 6. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
