Ipod Touch 4th gen battery drains fast

I got a brand new Ipod Touch 4th gen for 2 weeks now. For the first week, the ipod works normal. But since last week, this ipod battery starts to drain very fast. I charge my ipod at normal cycle for 4 hours at night, but in the morning the battery is finished. The ipod doesn't turn on unless I connect to the charger. This is not happened with my other ipod touch (2nd gen, IOS 4.1), which has 3/4 of battery, but it can still work in the morning without loosing significant power.

Both are using the same wifi network, and the same settings.

And also this ipod 4th gen ipod turns a lil warm, which I think is not normal, coz this is also not happened with my other ipod. The temperature gets normal only when i put the ipod on idle (before restarting).

I tried to update it to IOS 4.2, coz I think maybe it was a bug problem, but there is nothing different.

I don't understand what happened with my brand new 4th gen ipod. Please suggest me what to do...

Thanks

Hi there,

I got my ipod 4th gen pod for birthday in October last year and it was knackered, wouldn't hold a charge and just went dead after 3-4 hours, sent it back to play.com and they exchanged it no problem, new one has been fine, but now when I dock it on my 4th gen compatible dock it only charges to around 80% and then stops, if I plug into PC it charges all the way.

I'm beginning to think this is a re-occuring issue and I love my pod, may look into factory reset if this doesnt work its another return to Play!

The pod does get warm when used its the heat sink keeping it cool but never any hotter than my mans 3rd gen.

Answers on a postcard lol

I dont get it. I have this iPod Touch 4g for over a year now, and suddenly one day (i dont know which day) it was draining. I was at school today and played on my iPod with my friend (he has a 2g) and his battery was much better then mine and i have 4.3.5 and he has 4.2.1 so how can this happen????? 2g is supposed to drain battery faster then a 4g

Thanks,

My problem did not go away by reseting to factory. I just came back from the Apple store, they gave me a new one, the diagnostics revealed a deffective unit.

I did get yelled at for reseting to factory, kind of blamed the battery problem on me, never mind that this is what Apple suggests you do in order to try to troubleshoot the problem and also that the reason I reset it was because I was having problems with the battery. Go figure.
