iPhone 4 IOS 4.2 iPod play/pause button "size" (hitting skip forward/back)

Anyone else experiencing this annoyance?....

With iOS 4.2 I find myself hitting the skip forward or skip backward button when I intend to press the play/pause button. This occurs in the iPod software or the quick controls that pops up when the phone is locked and you press the "home" button twice.

This is a big annoyance for me since I mostly listen to audio books and the skip forward/backward buttons move you between chapters.

I'm guessing that the addition of the AirPlay button reduced the size of the other buttons making the play button's sensitivity area just enough smaller to be an annoyance to me and my not-overly-fat fingers. (The AirPlay button is slightly wider than the old bluetooth output control button.)

Hi BenV,

This is so annoying. I have upgraded to iOS4.2.1 this Sunday and the first thing when I tried to pause my audiobook I went back to the beginning of the file (two files 5h each) then 5 minutes of searching just to go back.

I am on the older device (3G) and do not have any airplay or whatnot and I can't really see any reason for making the controls fiddly small.

Yes, I'd forgotten about the feedback black hole. I submitted a feedback comment a year ago when I first posted here.

I can't hurt for everyone to submit feedback.

JUst submitted my feedback as well. I still can't believe that such a minor thing causing such a bug pain for many of the iPhone users still haven't been fixed.

Ok just did my feedback too.

Kinda irritates me as I spent a lot of time trying to figue out how to bring this issue up before I finally found this thread originally, I had no idea that feedback option existed. Even when I brought this issue up in person at an apple store and the staff told me they coudl not pass on my complaint, I asked how I WAS supposed to let apple know and they did not tell me about this.

I also left my feedback about this problem. I listen to a lot of podcasts in my car or while working out. So I'm constantly pausing and unpausing and it wears me out everytime I accidently fast forward to the next podcast or worse, when I rewind to the frickin beginning.

I don't know how many times I've had to drag that little ball with my finger to find my place. It's not easy.Please fix this soon.

If jailbroken, download Activator and set hitting the home button 3 times as the play/pause. It's saved me headaches.

Hopefully, by the time the Iphone10 is released, they will have addressed this problem. It hasn't happened from since I posted to this issue with my Iphone 3GS.

Add me to the list of offically annoyed, I have been having this issue since my 3GS (now on ip5). The problem happens when you double click the home button from sleep mode. There is about a full inch of combine space on each side of the forward and backward buttons but they squeeze them in so tight an infant could barely fit a finger in there (tried it with my iphone 4 and a willing baby), the only reason it is still like this is pure laziness, there is no logically explaination for the buttons being so close. For a company who prides themselves on the highest quality, this is just stupid.
