The button at the top (sleep/ wake/ on/ off) is no longer working properly. Everytime I press it I have to press it fairly hard to get it to work. It feels loose in its casing and has been gradually getting worse over a period of 2 weekds. Do I have to return it to Apple? Is there a cheap, home fix? And would Apple send it back to me, saying it was my fault, when it wasn't?

I had a 3GS out of warranty that after updating to ios4.2 started rebooting during calls. An appointment with an Apple Genius where I demonstrated the problem saw me walk our with a replacement phone free of charge.
