Random Facetime Calls

Same here - got that call at 3:28 am (Central European Time). Called back to ask what's wrong - and nothing. So two people woke up in the middle of the night for nothing. Yes, was my last facetime contact.

Me and 3 friends all received FT calls at 0226 UK time this morning 28/11 (we were all asleep)

FT has been awful for the last few days, most of the time we try and FT each other it appears to ring from the ringers end but it isn't ringing on the other end, it is taking 2 or 3 attempts to make a connection

Sometimes it just hangs on connection and dies

It has been fine for months, only the last few days it has been awful (since the update)

Is the issue with the phantom calls and poor connection/ not ringing on the other end all linked?

I Hope so.... i want this fixed soon!

A 2:26am on the 28th November, my iphone and my girlfriends, both on the same wi-fi network decided to call eachother using facetime, so both rang, both claiming the other one was requesting facetime!

Apple really shouldn't get their usual "free pass" on this one.
Looks obvious that the FT service keeps track of mutual adress book entries. A definite security issue that cannot be ignored.

I am still on 4.1 and the same happened to me.

Same here, 4.1 and my girlfriend and me received a call from each other while sleeping.

I got a unsolicited FaceTime call on 27-Nov @ 3h27 CET (Central European Time), on my iPhone4.
That is, from my last FaceTime caller. In this case from my Mac to my iPhone4 (with 4.2.1).
My Mac was off, but the iPhone was is standby.

I got a phantom call also, seeming to come from a friend with whom I had had FaceTime calls before. And, yes, it came on November 27 at 6:27 p.m. PST.

I am running 4.2.1.

I assume this was a FaceTime server burp, perhaps an attempt to complete a previous failed FaceTime call.

Yep for me the same.. I use the iPhone 4.2.1
and same problem.. a very nice Face Time phonecall at 4hr..

My 2 cents. Exactly same happened here. We (me and wife) was at my friends' place for weekend in London. Around 2.30 am GMT (on 28/11), My friend's wife got a facetime call from my wife's iphone when we were all fast asleep. Luckily she didnt wake us up as we were sleeping the next door 🙂 She only told us in the morning. Again in the morning around 11 am, I received a facetime call again from my wife's phone. As somebody mentioned earlier, she had tried facetime my friend's wife and myself on saturday night which was failed. It looks like all the failed facetime calls were queued up in the server and was suddenly released on that particular time (looks like all calls were around that time 2.30 GMT) for some reason...may be apple mending/messing with the server?

Me too, at 2:37am I got a call from my Brothers phone. He NEVER calls unless its urgent so this was very distressing, and to then not be able to contact him back (his phone was actually off!) convinced me something was wrong.
Checked with him the next day when I got hold of him and no outgoing calls at all.
I've never had this before, but not used Face Time at all, this happened the VERY night of the first time I had tried Face Time with him.
It looks like failed Face Time calls get re-tried or something no matter what the other end is doing.

Forgetting the distress and worry caused, just being woken up at 2:37 is bad enough, and Apple haven't even made a statement or commented on this?

Wow I am happy and frustrated at the same time because with the help of apple i am now officially a d-bag. Let me elaborate...

A few days ago I had a fight with my gf for a stupid reason. We didn't say our normal goodnights after I told her that I will go out to a bar (which was a lie). So I was at home watching a movie and at around 3 am I get a facetime call from her mac to my iphone. I accepted the call but it never connected. So i sent her a msg on whatsapp telling her "what the **** are you doing?" I got no reply. So I called her. At this point I was angry because I thought she called me on facetime since she knows its Wi-fi only (which was a way to check if i was at home or in a bar). She woke up and she answered the phone. I started my five minute rant and even after she swore she was sleeping I told her "lies lies lies".
The fight was over the next morning but I was sure she called me.
I just told her about this post and she started laughing...
