6th Gen nano wont connect to computer or itunes.

Alright so when i connect it itunes identifys that i have plugged in an ipod but it cant properly identify it, usually when you plug in a new ipod you give it a name and all that, but i cant even get that far. My itunes is updated and ive unplugged and plugged in my usb's multiple times and restarted my computer multiple times, used to safely remove hardware button to reconnect it, and turned off my firewall, it seems ive tried everything and its not working.. im about to just take it back becuase im begining to think its defective. It wont show up as a driver on my computer either, and ive tried resetting it without itunes, nothing seems to be working... if theres something i missed leave a post ill try it and get back to ya(:

:EDIT: ive also followed the entire apple troubble shooting page for the 6th gen nanos and it didnt help me at all D:

Okay, quick question then, an ipod touch and an ipod 3g both can connect to itunes but the nano cant. I was able to put music on it yesterday from my friends Mac, but the problem happened before that, i dont know if its an ipod issue or a comp issue? When i run my diagnostics in itunes it just says no ipod found but the rest of the bubbles are green, any more suggestions would be great, thanks

I can only help with what I did, I dont particually know anymore than that. Like I said, I tried all the steps in the apple support section and then ran the diagnostic in iTunes. all the bubbles were green except the iPod one and at the end it gives that list of text saying all its findings. when i examined that, one of the lines said "user is not administrator" so thats when I created a new user on my laptop. I'm afraid this is much as i can help with really.

I purchased a new ipod nano a little over two weeks ago and since purchase I have been most disappointed with the product. The problems I have encountered with it are;

1) Battery life is not at all even close to the stated battery life on your websites of 24 hours playback. I am lucky if i get 5-6 hours playback. I found this piece of advertising most misleading.

2) When the battery goes completely empty the computer will not recognize nor charge the ipod, which for me makes the ipod completely useless because it goes flat so quickly and then I have a ipod that doesn't work or synch with my computer.

If I had known of these problems prior to purchasing the ipod nano I would not have bought it. I find it on the whole a disappointing "apple" experience.

Make sure and recheck your system config to make sure that it supports the Nano. You should have USB 2.0 ports.

Make sure you are not connecting to your computer via a hub. Connect directly to a USB port on your computer. Don't use one that is on the front of the computer, use one on the back. You need to make sure you get the proper power from the USB port and front USB ports on a PC usually have lower power than the ones on the back of the computer.

Hmmmm.... I was using XP then updated to Windows 7 and I have not had any problems with either. You may need a clean install of itunes and all the other apple bits.

Here is a link that might help:

I think we mentioned this, but also make sure to connect directly to your computers USB port. Don't use a USB hub to connect.

I have the same issue I called the support and they said that my coverage is already over. I explained to them that the nano usb is not recognized and they told me that I would have to purchase coverage to fix the nano. Apple and other electronice are programed to malfunction to make the consumer purchase more products which in this case it will have to be the program that makes the nano work again. There is nothing wrong with tthe computers or the nano. Customer just have pay again to make it work again. It is not everyone with nano or ipods a couple million consumers $34 repair fee that alot of money. SCAM

6th Gen nano wont connect to computer or itunes.
