I can no longer leave an app review in the iTunes store

I can no longer leave an app review in the iTunes store.

After I sign in, and want to leave a review I get the following message: "You must own this item to write a Customer Review. In order to write a Customer Review for this item you must have purchased or downloaded it."

I used to be able to write and edit my reviews which I have done! But now I can't anymore even though I have bought and/or downloaded several apps. iTunes won't let me write a review anyway.

Any help is appreciated.

Over FIVE YEARS on and Apple continues to ignore this bug. And yes, it is a bug because the error message is incorrect.


At the very least, Apple should change the text of the error message to cover ALL the situations that can cause it to appear.


Apple should take pride in its App Store, but apparently "better than the Google/Android App Store" is the limit of their ambitions.

I have this problem too. It looks like for me that this problem occurs when you switch between app stores of different countries. First I was on app store of country 'A' and downloaded few apps. Then I switched to country 'B' when I moved there and I can't rate or review apps purchased when I was on country 'A'. I get the same error message. I do receive the updates of those apps.


Also, another issue is that the apps I had purchased when I was on country 'A' never show up in the purchased list of country 'B' even though I delete and re-install them. I was able to download the free and paid apps again (without having to pay for them once again on country 'B' store) but still they never show up in the purchased list. I bought a new iPhone and had set it up from scratch (with B app store). But still I don't see my apps I purchased on 'A' on this phone's purchased list.


Yes, it really frustrating to not have the choice of reviewing and rating the apps. Apple should listen to its users and rectify this problem.

Like so many others lo these many years, I can't review anything, either. No amount of resetting or redownloading or anything matters. Apparently I don't any of the dozens of apps I've purchased. I don't own anything I've purchased recently or long ago, on the same device or a different one. I've never failed to be constructive with my reviews back when I could write them and I've tried every trick suggested. When the same issue is known for many years and no one can be bothered to even fix the error message, you know Apple support is truly second class.
