Hello Everyone,

I would love to see the answer from support of Apple. I have IPhone 3G, IOS 4.2.1 on board and of course problems with draining battery.
I tryied everything and only restore as new phone method helped, but not for long. Few weeks and issue has returned.
I don't want to repeat all procedure to fix this issue for few weeks, it's nonsense.
I would gladly return to version 4.2 but I lost my backup with this version.
I would know if there will be IOS 4.2.2 for Iphone 3G, because I've heard that support for 3G will no longer be supported in IOS 4.3.
If not maybe someone know how to downgrade to 4.2.

to downgrade it to what you want to http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=750 find the 1 you want and save it to yur desktop
then open itunes and click on yur phone, then hold shift key and press restore and it should pop up with a little window and navigate to yur desktop and click the ipsw file that you downloaded and it will downgrade to what version you want

Ok, i tryied it but of course with problems.
After downgrade error message appear in itunes (1015). This means that after downgrade my phone was stuck in recovery mode. I found solution for that it was TinyUmbrella which helped me kick phone from recovery mode.
But now I have another problem. I can'n synchronize my phone. Itunes tells me that it's impossible due to older version of IOS. ****!!
Is this possible to fix battery problem?!

*Hi, this worked for me*

Me and my friend had same problem with 3gs. Battery lasted just for one day (or less) and usage time was same as standby time. Before that battery lasted for two days, at least, and usage time was mush shorter than standby.

We tried everything from hard reset to drain battery to 0% but nothing worked until this:

*- we both had 3gs turned off so what we did was turn it on and did something using 3g (like open web page or any app that uses 3g connection). you must do it far from wifi so 3g will send/receive all data. after that just turn 3g back to off. and now everything is great.*

Hope this will help

I had battery problem also, but once I cleared all of running apps, my 3GS came back to normal and battery last at least 2 full days.
With iOS multitask function, after you close apps, it still running background.
To stop app completely, you need to clear them from multitask pane.
Just double click home button, then multitask pane with running apps shows up at the bottom screen. Then delete apps you want to close.

Hi everyone,

I have an iPhone 3GS on iOS 4.2.1 that has the short battery broblem that many of you are experiencing. I have try many potential solutions provided in this rather long post without any more significant effect on battery life than a placebo (resetting many features, killing all apps in multitasking bar, ...). That was realy anoying User uploaded file

I have noticed that many iPhone 4 users were able to solve the draining battery broblem by simply turning off the MobileMe "Find my iPhone" feature on their phone and then hard-reset their phone (simultaneously pressing sleep+home buttons for 10 seconds, this does not erase any data on the phone).

I did the same on my 3GS and it finally solve the problem User uploaded file As opposed to the iPhone 4, the 3GS is unfortunatly not eligible for the free MobileMe "Find my iPhone" feature... so this gives 3 options to give it a try :

1 - Pay 99$/y for the MobileMe services 😟
2 - Suscribe to a free MobileMe trial period...
3 - Set up a free MobileMe "find my iPhone" account on an eligible device running iOS 4.2+ (iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4th gen, iPad) and then set up the same account on your 3GS to have access to the "Find my iPhone" ON/OFF switch on your 3GS.

I have used option 3 on an iPhone 4 running iOS 4.2.1 as a demo in a mobile phone store (making sure to clear the account info on the demo phone/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png)...

Hiya's

3GS 16GB model:mc131b modem firmware: 05.15.04

Ok so periodically I have the problem whereby I have to charge the phone 2 times per day (instead of the usual once per day).

I have noticed over time that a common factor seems to be the amount of free ram, whenever low, low battery life, whenever high, ling battery life...

... Now it seems everything is in order when I check running processes via a 'system info' app so I come back to ram - somehow the phone is doing something I am now aware of.

So my solution is to periodically run a 'remove launch daemons' app.

To date this works every time, and I have 142mb free ram at my disposal too..
