How to reset forgotten Restrictions password with iPhone restore?

Yes, you should really opt for the device which much lower security. You can probably find an app that will let you break such passwords in an easy manner.

The problem is that if people can break into it anyway, what difference does it make? If my phone is stolen, chances are people who stole it know how to break into these devices better than a typical iphone users. If I can spend few hours simply seaching online and find a way to break into it, you think people who steal phones can't break into my phone because it is so secure？Furthurmore, it's not like you can go to an Apple store and ask them to help you with it even though you can prove it's your device. From what I read from posts, the advice they give you is to wipe everything from your phone, which I don't want to do with my phone.

I don't care what drivel you have read online, they don't break the password for Restrictions, they just put it in DFU mode, wipe it, and set it up as a new device.

Yeah. I am sure people who forgot their restriction password go to apple stores because they don't know how to set their phones as new devices.

In reply to deggie, you're absolutely wrong. There are solutions which break the passcode and definitely don't set up as a new device, use DFU mode or anything similar. Search my previous posts in this thread.

RUssellelly, what you have previously mentioned about YouTube, can this be done on a PC?

What I've done won't directly work on a PC (since it needs two Apple specific apps). I'm sure some smart Windows coder could put something together to do the same, but it hasn't been done yet as far as I know.

Do NOT back up as encrypted files

You WILL NOT be able to do the plist edits - they wont save (despite you entering in the encryption password..)

Re back up NON encrypted - and you will be fine..

Wasted half a day on that..

SO I have this issue but my iphone backs up with encryption. Can't change that setting to unencrypted without the passcode. So then the ibackupbot trick works to the point of trying to import the revised springboard file but then resists and can't import because of the encryption.

Any thoughts...?

Yes. It's the mac (desktop or laptop that this works on) so the settings for no encryption must be set there.

It's a back up option in iTunes

Thanks - but I can't see it as a back-up option in Itunes. I thought it was because of the setting on the Iphone...

1. Connect the phone to your computer
2. Click on the iPhone button at the top right. If you don't see it click on the Library button (If you have the left menu list enabled click on it there instead)
3. Under the "Backups" heading there is a checkbox "Encrypt iPhone backup"
