Final Cut Studio Serial Number

Hi-

I am thinking of finally getting a Mac Pro, which will require upgrading Final Cut Studio and all that fun stuff.

In looking for my original FCS DVDs, I realize they were lost in a move last year. I can't find the install DVDs, the booklet or the serial numbers!!!

What info can I get off of my hard drive to be able to install FCS 3 on a new computer?

G5 Dual 2.0, Mac OS X (10.4.8)

If you still have it installed launch FCP. The serial number is on the splash screen.

In certain versions of FCP, the serial number was not fully displayed. If that's the case, call Apple and plead your case.

It has the full serial number on the splash screen, I believe. Nothing is xxx'ed out.

Is that all i need is the serial number?

That's it. When you install the upgrade it will ask for the original retail serial number.

In the versions that masked the serial number, nothing was x'd out. In the splash screen, the last few alpha-numeric characters were simply not displayed.

Groups of

1-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-4

or, put another way,

x-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxxx

make sure you pay attention to the difference between 1 and I as well as 0 and O

Dammit!!!! It's not showing the last four.

It's not stored anywhere else on my computer? I believe I registered it with Apple when I got it. Does that count for something?

What version do you have? FCS showed all the numbers, one letter, ten groups.

I have FCP version 5.1.4.

I can't remember if it was Final Cut Studio 1 or 2. I purchased it in December of 2006.

Wait, that version only had nine group of triplets. The tenth group with four digits didn't appear until FCS2.

The Number has 1 Letter and Nine groups of triplets.

Oh, Tom, are you sure? I'll send you a kiss if you're right! I've been ont eh phone with Apple for 20 minutes, talked to 3 different people and am on hold.
