So, brightness seems to work for me approximately one in fifty reboots. Every so often, it'll just kick in and work for some reason.
Hi anybody comeup with the solution..My eyes are paining with this brightness
yes, someone please help. I also got my iMac setup with Windows 7, but brightness controls won't work and the monitor is at its full brightness.
In my case, I updated my NVIDIA driver to the newest one, and changed the brightness in the NVIDIA control panel which is accessible by right clicking on the desktop.
The repair worked for me, only for the first reboot. It was set to the highest brightness after second reboot and now repairing and rebooting doesn't help anymore. 😟
Hm. Why didn't I think of that? Trying it right now.
Well, I have some bad news... I just tried going back into MacOS, changing the brightness, then going back into Windows and guess what? It doesn't work anymore 😟
Yeah, I'm seeing the same problem here on my end. I thought it was a problem with rEFIt, but evidently not.
Hmm... I'm actually using rEFIt as well... Perhaps that could complicate the issue.
Yep - rEFIt here as well...
Anyone here NOT using rEFIt?
yes, I am also using rEFIt
You can test if it's actually rEFIt by just holding down Option at boot, and manually booting the Windows partition (note that your HFS+ / partition is now dubbed 'rEFIt' in the Apple Bootloader).
rebooting without rFEIt, by holding the option key at the reboot worked for me, 😀 hope I can do it everytime .
I just removed rEFIt, and now brightness control works perfectly.
So all along, was this whole problem caused by rEFIt for everyone?!
Removing rEFIt doesn't solve the problem for me.
