Wierd screen problem - Tiny green pixels flickering?

Since a week i have been having this wierd screen issue.

When i'm using my laptop sometimes the display starts acting wierd (see the picture included).

*See this link for a picture of the problem!*

These green pixels or whatever the are, are all over the screen. I have tried running the apple hardware test and the Apple Care hardware test, but this doesn't result into an error or something. I also dont have any problems when i am playing a game (world of warcraft for example). The game runs fine.

When i reboot my computer the problem dissapears. After a couple or days or something this problem shows itself again. I dont know what causes it and i dont know how to force the problem.

Do you guys have any clue what the cause of this could be? A defective videocard / logical board? I want to try everything i can before sending it in for a reparation 🙂.

Any suggestions?

I turned on my macbook this morning and I had the same green/black pixel screen flickering. However, it won't go away. I followed the directions on setting pram/deleting preferences/etc. off of the apple support site for video problems. I have made sure that all software is updated, and there are no outstanding firmware updates, as far as I know. I have found lots of references to this issue online, however, I can't seem to find any fixes. Can anyone help? Thanks and Happy New Year.

That is unfortunate--3 year Applecare would have helped here.

You might see if your Mac qualifies for a flat rate repair. I'm not sure what the requirements are for this, other that Macs that are not working due to accidental damage are not covered. Under this program, you can send off your Mac to the Apple Repair Depot, and for something like $300-$350 they will fix everything that's wrong with it. Not sure how to arrange for this, but if you have access to an Apple Store, a genius bar appointment would be a start. Otherwise you would probably have to call Apple and see what they say to do.

Another possibility is someplace like dt&t:

Try Apple first, as that would be the best deal for you.

Good luck!
