Update section of the App Store saved a wrong Apple ID

Hi all,

The update section of the App Store saved a wrong Apple ID, and i can't update any of my apps...

It is so weird because when I buy an app, the app store has saved my actual apple ID, but for updating apps it saved a wrong one, and it's impossible to change (even when I log out and log back in with my real apple ID)..

thanks for the help 🙂

I am having this exact same problem... If I go on featured and scroll down it shows the right one, and in iTunes it's logged in as the right one, but when I update the wrong email is showing up and I can't figure out how to change it.

My problem is
I have 3 unique email addresses.
Several folders on my calendar that connect to 2 other computers via mobile me (and in the past I have had issues with ) Right now it is working fine and I don't want to mess with it..
A gazillion apps that I spent a lot of time putting into various folder and I use many of them.
When you restore your apps, you will have to reorganize them all.
Any time you do a restore it often leads to other connection problems.,

I will go to the apple store and see what they think.
The reason this happened to me was my phone automatically changed the spelling and I didn't catch it.
What a mess.

So I have been having a similar problem but this is after I try syncing my iphone which is driving me crazy!!

I have been trying to sync my new iphone with my iTunes but even though my MacBook Pro is authorized (the only 1 computer that is authorized), a message pops up everytime saying:

"This computer is no longer authorized for apps that are installed on the iPhone “Merv’s iPhone”. Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?"

Then when I click on "Authorize" the box where its supposed to ask for my current Apple ID and password does not show up. Instead it asks for my old Apple ID's password. Right now I use my gmail but it keeps on filling the email section with my old hotmail account. I tried changing the password but I don't use hotmail anymore so I can't get in the account.

I also -everytime- delete the hotmail address and type in my current gmail address but after it says Im authorized, the same message saying "This computer isn't authorized" pops up again when I try syncing my iphone. I want to either cancel the old Apple ID or make this message stop filling the email section with my old email address.

What can I do to finally sync my iPhone?

I've had the same problem - so frustrating. Apple didn't help either, when I was able to manipulate my way past the automated help (instructing me to find the answer on the website) to a real person, they didn't seem to grasp the problem and just told me to sinc my computer and phone. Uninstalling and reinstalling does work, thank you for the tip. What a pain when you have a lot of apps and majority were created under the old apple id. Not sure what to do about paid apps either, I'm fairly certain you'd have to repay to get it back.

The ID used to initially buy the APP is needed for updating. I share a computer and therefore itunes with my husband and have to use his ID and password to update the APPS he bought/downloaded and my ID and password to update the ones I bought/downloaded.

I was having all the same problems but this does work.

If you go to settings and then store on your iPhone and clarify your own ID and password this will still not allow you to update APPS bought/downloaded by someone else as you will need their ID and password as I said above.

Hope this makes sense - it worked for me

I'm pretty sure that you are right and that this is the only way to get around updating apps bought under a different Apple ID. Unbelievable that this is not clearly stated by Apple, especially with everyone now scrambling to make changes so that family members have unique Apple IDs for OS5 and iCloud. You will also need to use the current password for the Apple ID which you used to purchase (or freely download) the apps - if it was changed in the interim.

Same problem here. I don't have the original computer I set my account up on. I signed in and out on my phone, store, and iCloud and got nothing. This seems to be a big problem that many users are experiencing and there has yet to be a good fix for it. For now I'm using my girlfriends password, hardly a true solution. -10 points to Apple for yet another issue with no end in sight... if you look back, you'll see the same issue has existed since 2008.

Hi

I went to settings on my iPhone which had my husband's ID. I now changed it to my own. I also created my iTunes account, however all the apps were downloaded with his ID. I now want to backup my phone which is a 3GS so I can upgrade to my iPhone 4s. From what you are saying does that mean after I upgrade I will not have any of the apps I downloaded. Should I put back in his ID and password before I backup and after I upgrade? Also, is it best to do this with his iTunes account or my newly created one?

I hope I was clear.

Thank You

If this was Microsoft, everyone would be screaming and wanting heads to roll! But Apple sheep just grin and bear it? Apple acts like there's only one person doing one thing. It ain't that way - real people share and multitask. But that's okay, there's more room for Android and Windows users to play together and leave the selfish folks alone with their "i" (I, as in alone?) toys.
