Closed Captioning Problems - SCC files

Sounds like the timecode may be messed up at caption 325. Where did you get you captioning file, (.scc?)

I read here a little while ago about a freeware that allows you to adjust the timecode of a .scc file.

I personally use a software called Mac Caption Pro, which allows me to correct and adjust timecode. It also allows me to merg the .scc file information with an already encoded .m2v file, which and then can be imported into DVD SP as a normal .m2v file, negating the need to use the line 21 option of DVD SP.

You are correct in assuming that the timecode of the .scc file and the captured QT file must match. If you would like, you could send me the .scc file and I would be glade to check the line that has the error and see if the timecode really does overlap.

What is the starting timecode of you QT file?

I received your email and checked your .scc file, it was full of errors, (all of which were overlapping timecodes.)

Also, DVD SP's timecode default starts at 00:00:00:00, so your source file should also comply with that start time, it just makes things easier and keeps things strait (but not nessary if you choose to be different, that's the reason for the offset in DVD SP's line 21 area.)

The file I returned now begins at 00:00:00:00 but the first caption appears at the timecode you originally chose.

All of my captions begin at 00:00:00:00 and the first caption is shortly after that. But keep in mind that the timecode in the m2v file must also start there as well.

I'll send you a new .scc file with the timecode shifted, removing the inset from 10:00:00:00 to 00:00:00:00.
