Unable to join network
The strange thing is that I'm able to join a network that I create on my PowerBook G4, but never the AiPort Extreme. So the Wi-Fi on the iPhone appears to be okay.

Just adding to stracuzzi's posting: Same thing with me- my Canon MP980, which had worked flawlessly, all of a sudden joined my network again- I spent a few hours downloading new drivers etc- ended up hardwiring with USB- but it turned out it was the 7.5.2 firmware issue that suddenly excluded it from my network...
That did the trick! Thanks Brendon!
My situtation was very odd. I've got an iPhone 4, and iPad and a Macbook all on my Airport Extreme. My wife had a 3GS and my daughter has an iPod Touch that all worked fine on the network as of yesterday. Today, we set up my wife's new iphone 4S, that worked fine on the wifi, but suddenly my 4 couldn't connect. The firmware change worked...don't know why, but it worked.
Brendan, after hour of testing, changing password, and utter frustration your suggestion to roll back firmware worked!! All iPhones and printer now work.
COMPLETELY BLOWS MY MIND THAT APPLE IS NOT SHARING THIS INFORMATION MORE BROADLY. Shame on them!!
Thank you again Brendan.

Hello,
Can you exlain how to do this, my wifes Iphone4 just started saying can't join network. I can't even find airport utilitys. My daugters I pod touch is saying the same thing but my mac book pro connects fine. the only thing I have done lately is, I had to go into my router and enable the mac address because our pc woulndn't connect onto a web site for some reason. now our pc connects to that web page. Does that have something to do with it. Well I just disabled it and it didn't do anything.
Ok got it, works fine thanks.
Downgrading to 7.5.1 fixed the same problem for me, including 2 iphones (3g and 3gs) as well as my lexmark pro205 printer.
I hadn't noticed my iPhone issues because I have two access points, but the printer is right next to the airport extreme and would not connect. Showed signal strenth of 0. Lexmark even replaced the printer under warranty and it didn't fix it!
iPads, AppleTV, MACbooks, HP laptop all worked great, but the iPhones and Lexmark don't like 7.5.2! Strange.
I had this same problem, iphone would not connect with Airport Extreme, but ipad and laptop did not have a problem. The problem was finally fixed after one of Apple's senior technical advisors had me change the Airport Extreme wireless settings as follows:
Radio Mode: 802.11a/n-802.11b/g (not the automatic selection)
Radio Channel Selection: 2.4 GHz to channel 9, and 5.8 GHz to channel 161 (again, not the automatic selection)
Thanks Brendon. This solved a mystery problem with my iPhones (recently updated to iOS 5) no longer connecting to my Time Capsule wi-fi router. They had been working fine for a couple of weeks, but then mysteriously dropped the connection, asked for the wi-fi password and always replied "Unable to join the network..." when entered. I had the phone right next to the Time Capsule, so interference shouldn't have been a problem. Downgrading the firmware to 7.5.1 did the trick for me.
Apple should give Brendon a free iPad! Thanks for posting the solution!
Laura a big thank you. I was getting very cross and while I apprieciate Brendon's advice I couldn't find a copy of the older 7.5.1 only 7.5.2. I have this problem running version 6. My iPhone 3G, my Netgear WPN111, my Dell Laptop but not my iPad, or my wife's DELL, my wifes 3GS iPhone and her brothers 4G and his laptop were connecting fine. Taking that off auto and the entering 161 and 9 really did the trick. Super good.
You are awesome! Thank you for that advice--it worked perfectly. Now if only I can figure out my iPhoto problem...
This solved the problem for me too, thank you so much. I was unable to connect with iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, a PC and a wireless camera, while I was connecting with another pc, several mac laptops and iPad 2, iPad 3. I couldn't get my mind around this problem but after changing the radio mode, radio chanels according to Laura's suggestions they all work. Laura, thanks for sharing!
