Unable to join network
The strange thing is that I'm able to join a network that I create on my PowerBook G4, but never the AiPort Extreme. So the Wi-Fi on the iPhone appears to be okay.
3G, iPhone OS 3.1.3, Mac OS X 10.5.8
3G, iPhone OS 3.1.3, Mac OS X 10.5.8
After some work trying out different settings I have finally solved this.
1) Make sure that the settings of your Airport Extreme are in mixed a/b/n mode
2) Open Airport Utility
3) Select Upload Firmware from the BaseStation menu
4) If you current version is 7.5.2, click Upload Firmware
5) Select 7.5.1 from the pop up menu
6) Restore Firmware
After this is complete, you should be able to use your iPhone with the Airport Extreme. The latest firmware is buggy and does not allow iPhones with the latest iOS to connect.
If this solves it for you, please click solved (or correct answer) in the apple discussion boards.
Thanks

Thanks Brendon. I've tried everything. This finally worked. Can't thank you enough!
Thanks Brendon, This worked in our house today too - ios 5 Beta 4 iphone 4's stopped picking up the network today. Rolled back the firmware and it worked.
Thank you!
This thing was driving me crazy- your advice worked very well- I am now connected again!
(and shame on you Apple for introducing this error through FW upgrade...)
I had the same problem, one day my iphone and ipod would not connect but my 2 ipads and MacBook pro connected just fine. After hours on the web, with no solution, I unplugged the time capsule, waited a couple of minutes plugged it back in and what do you know, both iphone and ipod connect! You are probably right, it's the firmware upgrade.
Thank you Brendan, as soon as I reverted back to the older firmware, it worked just fine!
Holy cow, that worked Brendon. I've tried about 100 different things, following advice on numerous boards, and this was the silver bullet/smoking gun, thanks.
Bonus, my wireless printer started working again too as it should without the workaround I'd created.
And I second Quack_Salvesen's note... hey Apple, don't break your own products!

I wonder under what circumstances Airport firmware 7.5.2 causes this problem? We have three Airport Extremes, all with 7.5.2, and two iPhones (3GS and 4) and an iPad 2 running iOS 4.3.5. The iPhones and iPad have absolutely no problem connecting to the Airports. Whatever this is, it apparently isn't a universally-experienced bug.
