app update frozen, what now?

hi, i'm new to this. i okayed the updates of six apps and the first one froze. it reads "waiting..." beneath a grey box. the progress bar in said app is blank. now the other five app that were to be updated are unresponsive. can anyone help extract me from this predicament?
