Canon MP530 offline on iMac

Hello,

I have an iMac (10.6.4) and a Canon MP530. The computer and printer were communicating fine, but this morning the printer status toggled to offline on the Mac, even though nothing changed - no new SW installs, etc. I tried to reinstall the printer SW, but the driver install seems to have failed. I tried a new USB cable, also rebooted. Test prints were successful via the printer console, I just can't get connectivity with the Mac anymore. I deleted the printer on the Mac and now do not get any choices for reinstalling the same printer via System Preferences/HW/Print & Fax.

Any ideas?

I reinstalled the combo for OS 10.5.8 and after restarting the printer started shooting out paper so I knew it was working - and I can cancel a job with no problem. So the problem was with the system rather than the printer.
Less stress now during Christmas!

Thank you for your patient help. I will let the Canon people know it's fixed.
