iChat for iPad

Why isn't there an iChat app for iPad?

BlackBook 2Ghz, Mac OS X (10.5.8), iPad, iPhone 4

You need to try and keep a coherent line of thought going.
iChat is not available for the iPad but it should be, regardless of it having a video camera or not.
Million and millions of people still use regular IM without video.

Wow, I didn't mean to start such a huge debate, but I'm glad that some of you understand my original question. iChat for iPad would be a very useful app for text and audio chatting.

All,

I want to use iChat on my iPad for its screen sharer feature. This is the only way that I know that I can monitor and troubleshoot my mother's computer from afar (different states and soon to be different continents).

The work arounds seem to entail knowing the IP address of her computer. However, she has DSL and a dynamic IP address. I know that in theory I should be able to do screen sharing this way but I suspect it would be difficult. Any ideas?

Yes, that would be the point of this thread, wouldn't it?? The point of my question was whether there exists an easy way to do screen sharing from an iPad.

Your question was not exacty... explicit. There are several apps that will allow you to log into a computer remotely. The only one I can think of right now is LogMeIn. A search of the app store will turn up several.

I don't know if any of you know about this app called IMO instant messaging? It works with any IM like AOL, Gtalk, Jabber, etc for iPad. It has similar features as iChat like red dot notifications of the person's replies, etc. Check it out at the App store to download it for free.

PocketCloud from WYSE may also be worth looking into for controlling an OS X screen from iOSX device. Regarding iPad to iPad screen sharing, is this really the only thread on the board about this? Anyone aware of any 3rd party efforts?

The "More like this" suggestions seem to be a better match. I think I was searching for "screen sharing" and found this thread because of "screen sharer". Maybe I was searching topic text instead of discussion text.
