Iphone 4 won't hang up

I recently updated to 4.2 and now I can't hang up at the end of a call half the time. I press the end button and nothing happens. It isn't all the time.

I Mac 2.16Ghz Intel core Duo, Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I have a 3gs i phone and lately it keeps freezing. It won't let me hang up a call and it's costing me lots. I cannot call people from my recently called list and it won't turn up.

My contract is with vodafone. I did drop the phone when it was a week old and it has a small crack, but it is now over a year old and only just stared with these problems. What should I do?

I had a similar problem and so I called the genius folks. When you close an app, it doesn't actually close it, just puts it into the background and so it's running. So... periodically, either restart your iphone or push the main button (at bottom of screen) twice - this will bring up a small menu showing you everything that si running. Hold down one of the icons until they start to "shake" and you can then close them down one by one. I find it a rather annoying feature but it did the trick for me!

I have been having this issue for quite a while as well and have to do the hard reset to fix. Just FYI for you guys - iOS 5 still has this issue to some extent. I didn't have to reboot this time but I had to hold down the button until it finally hung up. Now - I was leaving a voice mail so I don't know if they hung up so I will let you know what I continue to see. Have only had iOS 5 since last night. This issue is my single biggest frustration with the iPhone. I thought it was a memory leak in a podcasting app but it does it when that app is not open too. Also, I had a memory app that frees the extra memory that I was using because I feel pretty strongly that this is a memory issue. Unfortunately, this app no longer works in iOS5. I will let you guys know if I have to do any more hard resets to fix it but I did have an overall freeze this morning where the screen didn't take any inputs so I had to do a hard reset for that. Right before that happened, it was going slow so I checked the memory app and there was only 11 MB free - normal is about 320 if I don't have a lot open.

Hi every one. My problem solved. It wasn't at all related to iphone. It was problem with vodaphone and 3G. I went to Vodafone store and explained my problem and they sad they had problem with 3g for 2 weeks. So they said just turn off your 3g and your problem with hanging up the phone will solved. I did and my problem solved. After that I turned it on but I don't have problem any more.

So maybe if you turn off 3g and turne it on again your problem will solve too.

Good luck,...

I've had this stupid problem since updating my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.0.1

I'll be in a middle of a call -- both received and initiated -- and the call drops. No audible click or noise... the person on the other end is just gone. But at that point, I can't hang the call up. The "End Call" button will not work. I can do everything else on the phone, but that call will not end unless I completely shut down my phone. It was happening only once every two weeks or so, but this week it's happened three times, and once during an important call. I tried a restore the other day, and that didn't help. My minutes just tick away until I shut down the phone.

PLEASE HELP OR FIX!
