Noise when connected to the car's AUX port.

I have the Ipod Nano 16GB G6 three days now and tried to connect it to my car's AUX port, but I also have the hissing noise problem. Tried everything, every setting and ipod/car volume levels. The only things that affects the continuous noise are:

- high ipod volume = lower noise volume, low ipod volume = high noise volume
- pull the jack slightly (2-3mm) out of the ipod headphone connector; just enough to keep stereo sound but the noise has disappeared

Tried various cables without effect. Headphones work correctly, also in home connected to sound system with any cable used in the car, no noise. So the problem exists only in the car, but other music players and phones don't generate noise in this car. Must be something in the Ipod headphone port because it CAN play stereo without noise!

Can we have some explanation of what causes this or if any software update will resolve this problem?

Thank you!

Probably now resolved looking at the previous date.

Nano 6th gen connected to car aux socket.

I have read numerous problems about this.

The nano relies on the headphone lead from the 3.5mm headphone socket to act as its fm aerial. If you use a plug to plug cord, this also acts as an aerial. The longer the cord, the more interference can be picked up from the car electronics, alternator etc into the substitute cable that will be unscreened.

Use the shortest possible cord and leave it coiled up.

I suggest 50cm 3.5mm male to maleaudio lead from Plusbee.com for a rediculous 99p inc postage !

Obtainable via Ebay. Thourghly clean both plugs with TISSUE as during storage they become tarnished and will produce noise.

This method worked perfectly on my 2010 Mazda Mx5.

An alternative is to connect via the docking point on the Nano.

Use the following combinations of bits;

Iphone 3.5mm audio and usb dock cable from Alphasonix ltd via Amazon, £6.98 postage free

plus 1 Belkin Auto USB car adapter charger CLAF8Z445EA from Flash Memory £2.04 postage free.

This kit will connect Ipod dock to aux and charge the battery from lighter socket !

This avoids the aerial effect problem of the headphone socket.

SIMPLES !

I encountered the same issue, I bet it's indeed coming from the electronic handling the 4 "pin" 3.5mm connector of the Nano.

I solved the issue by inserting first a belkin "iPod shuffle headset adapter" http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=496831

It leverage the enhanced Nano capability of being remoted on the cable and at the same time coverts to 3 "pin" 3.5mm female connector were you can connect your existing "any" cable.
