iPad access Time Capsule

I have a 2T time capsule. I have 3 Macs that use it for time machine backups. There is plenty of room on it so I have a few files on it that I can access from any Mac.

A Mac sees a file easily just by accessing the drive.
How can I access a file from the iPad? I just want to read a special PDF.

VNC programs don't access the Time Capsule, only computers. Of course, I can see the Time Capsule that way. But I want to access the TC from the iPad if the computers are off.

I can access a PDF on my other computers by putting it in the sites folder of the computer. Then i view it as a web page since I know the addresses of the other computers. And the computers have to be on.

But even if I know the address of the time capsule, there is no sites folder to do that.

What does it mean that your luck changes.
Do you know the password for your time capsule?
Perhaps you could change it if you do not remember it.

I tried NetPortalLite first and it worked ok.
Then I bought FileBrowser. And it is perfect for accessing the TC from the iPad.

I did email the developer with a question and got a prompt answer.
Perhaps you could ask them your question.

Hi Judy

I should have been more specific regarding my actual problem. The thing is that I use my TC A's access point as well and for that I have a password. There is however not any username specified for the wifi access. When I try to connect to my TC from NetPortalLite it prompts me for both a username and a password. This is where the fun stops for me as I have been unsuccessful in finding, alas specifying in the TC setup, any username/password combination.

Regards,

Jan
