restore original keyboard settings

I don't know what i did, but when using my macbook, when i press the H key i get this (˙) and so in order to get H i have to hold down the spacebar and the pres s the H key.....how do i fix this????

macbook 2009, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

System Preferences->Keyboard->Keyboard Shortcuts->click Restore Defaults, restart, and see if that fixes that issue. If so, return and reset your shortcuts.

Go to system prefs/language & text/input sources and make sure that only the box for US is checked.
