11" MacBook Air keeps disconnecting, losing IP address from WiFi

I just bought a brand new MacBook Air last week, installed all the updates on it from my home wireless network. I then try to use it on another wireless network, and sometimes it will connect, but then it always drops the connection and won't reconnect. Sometimes resetting the router helps for a little while, but then the same thing happens. I've hooked Windows XP laptops and an iPad up to this wireless network and they do not drop their connection like this. The Air is fully updated per Software Update, has the firewall turned on, and has a bluetooth mouse in use. I set IPv6 to off in the Network preferences. The wireless device is a Linksys 610N, but its set to 2.4GHz since the iPad can't do Wireless N.

What can I try to resolve this? Most settings on the router are set to their defaults or auto, so not sure if its a specific setting the Air doesn't like or what.

I have been following this discussion in various forums because I too have had these problems on my MBA 11 inch. Something I have been playing with the last few days is the number of wireless profiles I have defined. My job causes me to connect to a new network almost every day. I have an extreme at home with both 2.4 and 5.0 defined plus my Verizon MiFi I carry with me all the time. Each time I get more than 3 profiles defined/stored I start having disconnect issues. As soon as I clean up the profiles added during the day I reconnect and stay connected the rest of the evening. Check the number of profiles you have defined in Network Preferences - Advanced. Delete any that you can and get to 3 or less. Let me know if this makes a difference.

This as a number of posters have mentioned, is an ongoing problem with MB Airs since late 2010 models.

Since the latest updates to Lion it has improved but not gone away completley, I've access to 10+ different access points and there is no consistant solution.

One thing that does help sometimes, is to switch off Bluetooth, which is fine if you don't need to use Apple's BT mouse or keyboard. Again not really a long term fix.

I'm having this problem too - but only at work, not at home. At home my connection is fine for hours and hours; at work it stops every half hour to an hour (seems worse when the wifi is "under load" - downloading a big file or whatever - but can happen at any time.)

The WiFi signal remains constant - nothing to show that there's anything wrong with it and MacOS doesn't seem to realise there's a problem. But everything that requires an internet connection - browser, email, IM, updates, whatever - all stop working. Turning WiFi off then on again fixes it, but it is very frustrating.

What I don't understand is why Apple doesn't sort what is an obvious problem experirenced by so many - there are literally thousands of posts online about this issue. I have amazing connection on my phone and ipad from the same location but £1500 worth of laptop equipment can't pick anything up. I don't think I should have to seek solutions - that's what I've paid Apple for. Whilst it may be interesting to research this for some, for me, I simply bought my macbook air to do my work on. I wouldn't buy a car and be excepted to fix an obvious defect myself. Come on Apple, sort yourselves out....it's arrogant and your luck will run out - great design and usability is one thing but if the basics are wrong, what's the point. Righ now, I wouldn't buy another of your products.
