ITUNES APP STORE WITHOUT A CREDIT CARD WITH EXISTING APPLE ID

Hey,

I've been trying to create a free itunes app store account. First I read the instructions in this link : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534, but the link shows how to create a new account, the problem is that I already have a Apple ID.

On the other hand when I try to sign in in the app store with my existing Apple ID, I get the message "This Apple ID has not yet been used with the iTunes Store please review your account information" with two options "cancel" and "review".

Clicking in review, I go to the page with the terms of service, continuing I go to a page where I have to type my email, my password, question and answer for the password and my birth date. The email field has the email that is being used with my current Apple ID, and the password field has the password of my existing Apple ID. The other fields are blank. Completing them, and clicking in next I go to the payment options page, but there's no "none" option, so I can't make a account withou using a credit card.

Is there a way to create a itunes app store without a credit card with my existing apple ID, or a I have to create a new one ?

This is my first apple product ever, and already the phrase "Everything just works" doesn't really apply to these products as everybody thinks. I have an iPod 4g. It's very frustrating that I have to do a workaround to download a Free app. Also my IPod is giving me some issues when I’m listening to music the ipod will just randomly turns black and resets, quite annoying but whatever.. Here is how I created the account without a credit card.

It took me a while to figure out how to create an account without a creditcard, and finally found out how to do it.

I had to abandon my previous account and create a new one on my PC (I’m sure it works on macs)

You need to follow the instructions exactly how they have described. This is confirmed as I just created an account.

Go to itunes -> sign out of your account if you are signed in -> itunes store on the right -> find a free app(THIS IS CRITICAL OR IT WON'T WORK) and install it-> next you will be prompted to sign in or create a new account, create a new account.

Following these steps you will be able to create an account without a creditcard, as the none option is there.

Also, if you want to use your previous appleid's email account, you can signin to the appleid.apple.com website and manage your account to change the account email address, and signup with your preferred email address. You can also input a phony email address in your current apple id when you change it and it will work. ( Lots of bug's/issues in their current system.. haha)

Enjoy~

my first experience with an apple product is not the greatest, hopefully it will turn out okay.

This definitely does not work. Tried this on a brand new macbook air. Tried creating multiple times with different email addresses, same result each time. I know this used to work, because I have done it several times--but not no more...

Don't know if it's just for itunes 10.5 or what. But this is definitely BS on apple's part. And PS, a paypal account still requires a credit card or bank account.

I tried the way that"hchagger" recommended and it worked

you should all try this, it really worked

I didn't have the "none"option but I finally found the solution

it's all about HOW did you create your account. There are two ways; if you follow one way you will get the none option but if you follow the other way, you won't.

So the main way is to actually click"Create Account" in the Store menu, which is what most people tend to do. If you do it this way, you won't see "None" listed in the payment options—you have to choose a method of payment to proceed.

The second way is to sign out from itunes then go and install completely free app. it will ask you either to sign in using existing account or to create a new account. Choose to create a new account and follow the instruction. this time you will get the "NONE" option ((( NOTE: if you choose to create a new account, you can't use your previous email address because it's already used in your previous apple ID ))) you have to put a new email address.

4 different email address:

1. just tried to create using appstore on Ipod - no option for no credit card

2. followed official apple instructions per link above with free app download first using Ipod - no option for no credit card

3. followed official apple instructions per link above with free app download first using iTunes - no option for no credit card

...wasted a pile of time tinkering between each try; a total and complete waste of my time and totally contrary to the "it just works" philosophy...

4: used my California office address in ITunes (not my Canadian home), it worked.

So it can work, just why does Apple makes it so hard.

Works fine here.

I just created an account in the US and the Canadian iTunes stores using this link -> http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534

Both times I was able to select None as an option.

and if you still cannot get it to work;

You can enter a CC to create the account then immediately delete the CC info after the account is created.

Select iTunes store on left side of iTunes.

Click your account name, then View account.

Click Edit payment info.

Select None as the payment option.
