Write protection? Don't understand

Ok so new cd's for christmas, have been using a usb stick to back all my music up also to use on my car. New cd's will not copy over. Message reads:
This disk is write-protected.
Remove write protection or use another disk.

Can anyone tell me how to get around this. As I said they are brand new cd's.

Some memory sticks have a small write-protect switch to guard against accidental changes. My guess is that you flipped the position of the switch without noticing.

Thanks, have you any idea how I can change it back? Have just tried to delete/format my memory stick and it says it is write protected. I've got no idea how to change it. Thanks

I was thinking of a physical switch somewhere on the drive. They're oten quite small. If that's not the issue then perhaps this link will help:-

If there is no physical write protect switch, you need to check the drive's properties. In windows, just open "My Computer" and right-click the drive (or if that does not have "Write protect" marked, check the specific folder you were trying to copy to).

Might say "Read Only" instead of "Write Protected"

Thanks for the help, fiddled with the usb stick and eventually it worked. I'm still having trouble transferring music from i-tunes or wmp to usb. 1st example is 1 CD copies over but then stops at track at and shows this message :
"this disk is write protected. Remove the write protection or use another disk" then lists the details of the track. I'm just going round in circles here getting confused and cross as I can't get things to work how I want them or I just don't know how to do it?

Ok, so I have to organise the on my usb to be able to access them easier in my car, but halpway through putting them into different folder they then start saying they are write protected also. Very confused girlie here?
