Apple TV Extremely Slow - Please Help

I just received an Apple TV for Christmas and this is my first Apple product that I have ever been disappointed with. It's EXTREMELY SLOW! I am using it wirelessly through my Time Capsule and I have a pretty fast DSL connection. I also have a Roku box and a BluRay DVD player that has internet services as well like VuDu and NetFlix. Movies start almost instantly on all of my devices and play flawlessly except the Apple TV. Movies on Apple TV take about 5 to 8 minutes to start versus only just a few seconds on my Roku box and instantly using VuDu. Is this normal or do I have a defective unit?

How does 35 hours sound (which turns into 2 weeks if the ATV isn't left on all the time)? That's what I have to wait. No DNS, IP, or QoS problems. I was running a Airport Extreme Dual Band with a 14Mbs internet connection at 100% strength 20 feet from ATV. I was told by product support that may be too long a run. So now I went out to get an Airport Express to extend my wireless. That is running 3 feet from ATV. ATV still only gets a speed rating of 65/300 on Airport utility. Macbook gets 274/300 ten feet away on couch and 300/300 on same spot as ATV. There is very little noise shown on the airport utility also, that means no interference. To top it off all other streaming works without any problem. And, yes I did drop all network activity to try to get better throughput.

What sort of answer do you have out there? Oh wait, I went to Apple store. They said since it is working (at all) then there is no problem with it. They can not test signal strength or any technical variables like antenna calibration. Very weak product.

there are better ones out there and I wish I had not wasted my money. Apple has another hardware problem on their hands. Just google this topic and hundreds of posts can be found.

1) Channel 1, 6, or 11 - whichever of those 3 is least used by other local APs/routers.

2) Locate the ATV away from potential sources of interference (could be anything electronic - I had a 3-port HDMI switch interfere with it enough to blind it from the entire network).

3) Turn on QoS(MMS) on your router. This helps give priority to video packets, increasing streaming speed and stability.

So far, those three things have helped eliminate my connectivity problems, and have resulted in stable, fast streaming over my 6Mbps DSL connection and WiFi 802.11(G) network.

I too have SERIOUS Apple TV problems. ONLY APPLE'S downloads are a HUGE problem.. Netflix works fine.

I'm pretty convinced that its a comcast Cable throttling problem. So, I went and upgraded to business class. I can run speed test and get 16 MB download speeds, and download 30-60 GB podcasts very quickly.. but movies from Apple..? take hours.

I have rebooted, installed latest firmware.etc. this thing has been this way since the day I got it. In fact, it used to be worse. I took pictures of my screen saying things like Ready to watch in 18 hrs. and then the next morning it would say, ready to watch in 13 hrs. etc.
