Listen to Songs by Genre

This is my first post, so sorry if this has been asked. I have had an old Ipod for years and I love it. I received an Ipod Touch for my birthday and I can't figure out how to listen to songs by genre. That was the main way I listened to my old Ipod, but I don't see that option on the touch. I can search by genre, but it only lets me pick 1 artist from that genre. I hope it's possible otherwise I am going back to my old Ipod.

In iTunes on your computer, make sure you have a Genre for the songs. On your iTouch, once in the Music program, there are 5 icons at the bottom (Playlists, Artists, Songs, Albums, More). Click on More. There you'll see Genres. Select the genre you want. At the top of the list, you'll see "All Albums", and once you click on that, "All Songs". Hit "Shuffle" at the top of the screen. If only one artist shows up, I would imagine it's because it's not set up properly somehow in your iTunes.

The Touch permits listening to music by genre. However, you may not see the choice to do so. Press the Music icon and select More (Bottom right portion of the screen.) This will list the other play options from those that automatically show-up on the bottom of the Music home page. If you want to alwayss see the genre option at the bottom of the page choose edit and slide the icon to the bottom.

My Itunes is set up fine and worked fine on my old Ipod. I do not have album titles nor do I want them. In doing reserch I found out you can shuffle by genre, but only if you enter a space on the album title in your ITunes. Is this the only way? Cause doing that screws up the way songs appear on my car stero, which also worked fine with the old IPod.

Are you sure? I've never needed to do that in order to play by genre.

Have you followed what Valbobal said?

What do you mean, none of your albums have the title in them? Even if this is the case, it makes no difference, genre is on the More menu by default. If it's not there, have you moved it? (You can, if you wish, move it to the bottom bar.)

Once in your chosen genre menu, the iPod will show a list of artists, and under that, a list of albums. At the top of that menu is *All Songs.* When you go into that menu, there will be a list of songs and at the top, a Shuffle option. Press that and the iPod will shuffle songs from the genre you have chosen.
