iPhone 4 alarm not working since 01.01.2011

Same **** for me.
iPhone 4 iOS 4.2.1, single alarm (created 2010) and switched on yesterday evening > did not worked this morning.

Delete and recreate the alarm.

Same problem with Iphone 3, my alarm hasn't worked since updating it to 4.2.1

Well it did not work on Jan 3, 2011 either!!!

What makes me laugh is the small minded computer nerds that thinking an alarm not going off on a "IPhone" is not important. Please step into the real world where normal people don't sit on forums searching for errors on iphones before they travel.

People travelling will use the alarm clock on their phone as their only alarm clock and therefore it is very important that it functions correctly.

I have used alarms on phones for many years whilst travelling without problems, that was until the iphone. Why should a alarm clock suddenly stop working when it was fine the day before? Why should the normal guy on the street suffer such massive problems that this "unimportant" error causes?

First time this happened to me I was late for a train for a very important business trip as the alarm did not go off. Second time the alarm did not go off for a flight home from my new year holiday yesterday, luckly I was already awake and could not believe my luck after my previous experience with the failed alarm.

This is not acceptable for such an expensive device as an IPhone. There is no simple way of complaining to Apple Inc. There is no way of seeking compensation for the chaos that the fault causes to the simple man on the street. There is no one from Apple that even cares for the problems that it causes because it is only an "unimportant alarm clock" that is not the purpose of the device!

sounds a lot like big company syndrome, apple have lost touch with what I can see. The great claims of their powerful and hassle free products is quickly leaving this company.

And do you expect the power company to compensate you for lost work hours if the power goes out over night and your old alarm clock doesn't work to wake you? People, I understand the issue, but we as consumers also need to take some responsibility for our own lives. Come on...

Agreed 100%. The entitlement attitude of many people has gone way overboard... blame every problem in their lives on someone/something else and then get 'offended' when someone disagrees with them.

This is pretty embarrassing. I had an 8 am flight and had planned to wake at 5:45 am with the aid of my iPhone. Luckily for me, I happened to wake up on my own at 5:49. I wondered why the iPhone had failed to wake me. I was staying in a condo that had no regular alarm clock, so the iPhone alarm was all I had. No, I'm not expecting Apple to compensate me or anyone else. However, when consumers feel a product is failing to meet their needs, they may go elsewhere. Android is catching up fast, and snafus like this on Apple's part aren't helping. Just my opinion....

As someone living in the real world, I would agree that it isn't acceptable for an alarm not to work, but I also know that if I really have to get up, I will set two alarms on two different devices.

Word to the wise, if you don't want to be late, set two. If you only set one, you are setting yourself up to be upset with the manufacturer or power company or your kids (who have turned one of mine off by accident.)

Vent all you want, but learn the lesson. It is your responsibility to get up on time. Plan on something failing, or you will always run the risk of being late.

BTW, my alarm was set for Sunday morning and it didn't go off. I would have been late for a bus had I not woken up on my own.

Man the alarm clock is one of the easiest things in a phone. Exists since the first nokia and worked until the iphone.
If I put an alarm clock is simply because I have to get up. At work about 20% of my collegues came late. I had the sixt sense and set the clock on sonyericsson and iphone. I would AT LEAST expect excuses from apple about this failure.
To me iphone failed to ring about 4 times in 3 years. Never happened in my life before exept with an electric alarm clock to wich I hadn't changed the battery.

The message that apple is giving is do NOT RELY on iphone's alarm clock.
So if you travel you bring an extra alarm clock,
if you go out and plan to sleep with a nice girl... you bring the nice oldfashioned alarmclock in your poket. (you don't wanna risk to be late the day after mate 😉 )
At home always set one alarm clock (why set the iphone and one other?).

Mine continues to not work as well. Getting up late for work really *****! Especially since I knew about the issue but heard widespread confirmation that all would work fine today.

I am particularly frustrated that I found the problem on my phone Sunday morning (when I overslept and missed church!) and spent hours yesterday thinking it was a problem with my phone, restoring software, even doing a fresh install! THEN I find this is a known problem! I set a second alarm this morning - wouldn't you know, my old clock radio didn't go off either! I am most frustrated that Apple couldn't send out an e-mail to the users (they know who we are!) and notify there is a problem and to watch out!

You have to set the alarm after 1/2/10. I found that out this morning.

As a matter of fact, there are circumstances under which a power company has had to compensate people for the spoiled food in their fridges and freezers. Also, when there is a power outage, even overnight, one usually becomes aware of it before one gets up in the morning.

I too have never had a cell phone alarm fail, and have been through many phones and many providers, the last (before iPhone4) being a Palm Centro with Verizon.

My feeling about Apple is that their egos are too big for their market share. These are the geniuses who can't take the time to provide an alphabetized notes app, though their users have been begging for one for years. That should have been a big red flag to me. I will be setting my Palm alarm for important wake-ups from now on. These jerks can't be trusted.

Just a footnote - Developing a means to tell time accurately has been extremely important in the history of Western civilization. The first successful navigation of the oceans depended on it. The addition of alarms to time pieces was a valued addition, and I think *it's absurd to try to diminish the importance of a reliable timepiece and alarm in modern society*. Cell phones have come to serve both functions. Keep it up, Apple, and your market share will soon fall to the point where you won't have the $$$ to maintain your fat @ss egos.

There's no reason this problem should still exist. Apple needs to fix this IMMEDIATELY. When you spend between 200- 500 on a phone it shouldnt have these problems. I just bought m I Phone 4 4.2.1 a week ago and the reception is terrible and now the alarms don't work- BS
