Requirements for iPad

I recently received an iPad for Christmas. I don't have a desktop or laptop computer and so I may be given an old emac from my grandfather that he no longer uses. I'm sure i could have found this somewhere i just didn't really know where to look, and I'm sorry i don't know more details but I'm not sure what os it is on or anything. My question is what os requirements are there for the iPad? Is it worth me taking this older computer to use my iPad with. All i want to use it for is music and video storage to transfer back and forth to and from my ipad and to have a computer to sync my iPad with.

Thanks for all the help. I actually live with my brother who has a MacBook, just in the effort to not have to track him doweverytime a cd comes out that i want or I want to buy a movie or something, I was hoping i could use this ld one simply for iTunes and being able to (any time i want) move music and movies back ands forth. It is not impossible or q huge deal nuts to continue using my brothers and not a $130 effort to suck it up and use his comouter. Thanks again for all the responses and all the help. Defiantly can't tell you how much i appreciate the quick responses before i tried move (and also imposing reoccurring back problems on myself for the rest of my life) the computer to my house 🙂
