Canon MF4350d won't work with 10.6.5

I just got a Canon ImageClass MF4350d. I have been on the phone with canon 3 times and they tell me that it's a problem with Apple's OS. I keep telling them that it's their driver. I got it to work with an old PPC 10.4 machine without issue, but it just does not work on two different 10.6.5 Intel machines. The drivers install (latest 2.20 for printer and 1.30 for scanner) and the computer sees the printer as an USB device, but the scanner and printer drivers do not. I'm pulling my hair out. Someone please help me.

Thanks for the feedback. Well, at one point it did show the Print/Scan buttons. However, neither is displayed now even though it shows up as a printer. I've attempted to reload Canon's software and no success with that.

Image Capture opens and displays the Canon Device. The only message I get is "Trying to open scanner session". The session does not complete with a successful connection.

I'm game if you guys have other solutions to try. Thanks!

Both items were reinstalled. I just deleted the complete canon folder under iMac/Libraries/Printers and did a complete reinstall. The goo news is the scanner button is back! Still no luck getting it to work. When I select "Scan" tab a new tab "Open Scanner" appears. When I select that a new window opens with the message "No scanner selected" although it does appear as a printer and scanner. Slow progress is being made...

I was brain washed by Windows for many years, (No longer, I'm awake now) and really like the iMac. But, I'm still challenged and enjoy learning about it. On another side note is there a way to capture images to post here?

...any suggestions always appreciated for the canon too!

Okay, have done some testing with an MF4350d and I can see the Scan tab is present in the Print & Fax pane with the printer proxy. However it would appear that the Open Scanner tab does not function. I also got the No Scanner Found message. But if I opened Image Capture I was able to see the MF in the Devices list and when selected an overview was performed. But it was imperative that the Scan button was pressed. If the Scan button is not pressed then an error message will appear.

Note that the Scan button being selected did not make the Open Scanner button function.

Yes, Open Scanner tab does not function = "No Scanner Found" message. That's OK - it just means the scanner software is installed. As long as Image Capture sees the scanner and connects, you're in good shape. As PAHU pointed out, set up how the SCAN button on the machine functions in the MF Toolbox software. It may just not be assigned a function.

Click one of those button. There will be 3 tabs (Scan, Save, and External Program) at the top. Press the Save tab to tell it where and how to save a file. Once that is set, click OK. Go to MF Toolbox Preferences. Choose which option (Mail, Save, Scan-1, etc.) is used when you hit scan/start on the machine.

Brett, nothing happens when I click on one of those items...
