Alarm clock fails as of Jan 1

Both iPhones in the house (3GS) failed to execute the alarm function this morning (v4.1 and 4.2.1). Please post a bug fix or workaround.

I understand the importance of all of these, I understand that the alarm clock bug was a major fail.

BUT, I worked in a field where I had to be there on time for 33 years. I was never late. But I also learned from people who came before me to never rely on just one method of alarm. Currently (and I'm retired so it is not as important) I have as my first alarm my B&W Zeppelin with a 2nd Generation iPod Nano (Product Red). My second is a Proton clock/radio, set to buzz. This clock radio uses a 9V battery backup in case of a power failure (in fact I just replaced this battery, do so every year on the 1st. Unless I have a bug then it is on the 2nd). If it is really important, like catching a flight to Galveston next week, I set the alarm on the iPhone.

I would think anyone in a critical position should know the importance of not relying on one system.

But as I've said elsewhere:

1. The bug should not have happened.
2. Apple should have released as wide of a press release as they could.
3. Apple should have sent a text message to as many subscribers as possible warning of the issue after they were aware of it.
4. Apple should also have included the information that in order for it to work on the 3rd you need to delete the current alarm and create a new one, not edit the current one.
5. Apple should make sure 4.3 corrects this.

So after all of that, and given everything that has happened, and assuming they are going to fix the code in 4.3, lets get off all the nebulous ****** and you articulate for us what at this point you want Apple to do.

Mark me down as one NOT affected by this bug.

Running a 32GB iPhone 4, with Rogers in Canada, GMT -6:00

Hadn't really used the alarm clock until the 2nd of January, although I had played around with it. Performed a restore earlier in the day on the 2nd as well, read this thread on the night of the second and tested out my alarm, worked fine then, works fine now. Woke me up on the 3rd and today as well.

I didn't read the whole thread, but perhaps those who are affected by this should try a clean restore of your phone, without using a backup.

It cost me £350 to stay in a Scottish Hotel which was overpriced (there was no phone in the room for an alarm)I didn't think to take a spare alarm clock as I have used mobile phones for at least 15 years and don't remember a problem with the alarms. I only missed my full overpriced traditional breakfast, I am over it. As I thought this was the Apple discussion forum I came here to vent my frustration only to find unsympathetic "professionals" telling us we should know better than to rely on the Iphone well now I know better.

If you sent your feedback, you have already complained to Apple.

What are you doing to contribute to the publicity of this issue? If it is posting here you are mostly wasting your time. And considering it has been in both of the major papers in my area, has been in the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, several major asian newspapers, all the major online sources, on all the television stations, on radio, on satellite radio, exactly where are you going to publicize this?

If you are talking about your continuing posts here you are just pretty much wasting your time.

Read the Terms of Use over there to the right, you'll find that the site is here for user-to-user technical support (such as providing the information that you have to delete the alarm and create a new one, not edit an old one, for it to work again) and venting/ranting, etc. is specifically prohibited.

Sorry about missing your breakfast, what was on the menu anyway? And that much money for a room with no phone and no clock? Really?

I travel with my Logitech PC Anywhere 2 and my 2nd Generation Nano. This way I get music and an alarm, and the iPhone can be the backup. Just a suggestion.

It would have been Sausage, Bacon, eggs, black pudding, beans, toast and coffee which would have been great for my hangover, and it was vastly overpriced because it was New Years Day. On the night I was defending the Iphone with someone who was saying you had to buy all your music from Itunes and I was telling him "not at all I use Amazon and Napster" then continued to show off my photos and camera. I didn't have the heart to tell them the reason I missed breakfast was due to my Iphone alarm not going off.

Sounds sort of yummy.

Ok, here's the deal. Come over here and I'll provide you a room for $39 for one night. The room has an iHome ip90 alarm clock/iPod connection, it has an AT&T cordless phone. Free WiFi. Breakfast would be my grandmother's cinnamon rolls (made vegan if you prefer), eggs benedict with Elgin (TX) sausage instead of Canadian bacon (Canadians, they are just so darn rude), coffee that was roasted the day before, ground in-house and brewed on a Capresso coffee maker. You do not have to defend the iPhone or its alarm. If you stay on January 1st we can check the alarm function together.

Would this make it up to you? I can make iced sugar cookies in the shape of the Apple logo if it helps (but don't tell Apple that their lawyers will be after me and seize my cutter).
