Installing Windows XP on a MAC Mini

Trying to install Windows XP w SP3 on a Mac Mini with Boot Camp. After the partitioning, windows loads and then the set up screen appears. I can not get past the set up screen. It is either frozen or is not accepting input from my keyboard. Any Ideas? Thanks

Hi,

are you using wired (USB) keyboard/mouse or wireless (Bluetooth) ?

Apple recommends using wired-USB keyboard/mouse during installation.

Any kind of USB-keyboard/mouse (even PC-ones) should work.

If you don't have try to borrow from friend/colleague.

Yes I am using a wired usb apple keyboard, with the mouse connected to the keyboard.

I borrowed an old Dell USB Keyboard/mouse and it worked.

Does this mean I can not use my apple Keyboard at all when running windows? or should windows be able to install a driver for the apple keyboard?

Hi,

usually the wire Apple keyboard should work during installation of Windows... Dubious.

While having the Dell keyboard/mouse connected install the Drivers from the OSX DVD as per the Bootcamp Setup Guide.

Connect the Apple keyboard and see if it works.

Thanks Stephan,

I'm not sure why, but after reconnecting the Apple Wired Keyboard a couple times after set up it began to work. Maybe during one of the startups we received an update to the drivers. In any case XP is up and running with the apple hardware. My son is happily playing his PC games again.
