battry drains fast

I had a problem once, my phone battery was empty and I was traveling so i didn't have the chance to charge it, anyway i left it for 2 days and when i got the chance to charge it, it was dead, I have no warranty on the phone and we have no agency or reseller in our country, so normally I went to a local shop, and we had to open the phone and extract the battery to give it a fast charge from a normal power adapter, and it was awaken just fine for the next 6 months, that was Ok in that time.

four days ago, my battery started to drain quickly, the processor (phone) is all worm up, from 100% to 0% in like 4 hours, anyway I lived with the thing, and I was going to upgrade the software from 4.0 to 4.2 in hope to solve the problem, anyway two days ago I charged my phone and it was 64%, i turned it off to wake up again in the morning just to find my phone all dead, i mean if a phone is turned off !! how could the processor still working ?, isn't there a kill command in your programs lines ?

it turned out that the battery is all dead and no way to awake it, so yesterday I changed the battery with a new one, but still the draining problem exist in a slower pace because the battery is a new one.

I know as apple company, wont do anything to it that I have no warranty, all am asking of you is even to solve this problem or to tell me what to do.

and Yes, Wifi is off, notifications are also off, cellular data off, 3G off, location off, pretty much everything is off, draining problem ON !!!

Thank you.

Sorry, it appears I have not been clear.
I concede that FileApp had it's own issue with Multi-tasking, which was reported and fixed in an update. However, the update installed via the iPhone Appstore App, without ever running, caused overheating and battery drain. Hence I removed it. I can always send myself the timetable and keep it in iBooks now anyway.

Skype never ran. I put it on a long time ago, thinking I may have a use for it on occasion, bet never really did. The latest update, installed via the Appstore App, and NEVER run, caused overheating and battery drain. Every time it was updated through iTunes, this was not an issue.

This makes your assertion that the apps are to blame, the standard Apple support line, somewhat invalid. The common denominator here is IOS4 and the Appstore App which are SOLELY Apple's domain and responsibility.

BTW, with over 30 years of development experience, don't you think I would have filed a bug report directly with the developers if I thought it would be of help? SO yes, I did file a report with FileApp's developer and they responded as expected.

I don't expect Apple to vet every app, that is the job of the developer, same as on any platform. But I do expect Apple, who have proprietary control over their OS and development libraries to ensure that their code cannot cause such issues. They are also responsible to ensure that developers on their totally closed platform are fully educated and informed of any coding issues that can cause problems.

The bugs stand in Apples IOS4 and the applications on the phone. And in any case, as this is not a Windows PC, we expect everything to "Just Work", and for it to be somewhat reliable.

All software has bugs until proven otherwise, which is impossible. 30 years in HA embedded and IT systems has taught me that is truth. At the very least, Apple should give us an app that will show us what processes are using how much of the CPU, and give us the ability to kill them off.

BTW, killing apps off from the mutli-task bar does not solve the issue. Nor does resetting the iPhone. Only a reinstall of the OS and the rest of the steps I have outlined does it. I have tried and failed various suggestions from Apple support, and on these forums. This is the only tried and true method that works.

And of course, the reason I am posting here is because I have no other forum to direct my experiences, evidence (however limited that is) and frustrations. Apple support refuse to acknowledge this issue. Apple support is not support. It is an exercise in obfuscation determined to eschew all responsibility and focus it on third parties or the user themselves. The whole Apple response to the Alarm Clock issue over New Years, and the complete ignorance of the DST issue in Australia give evidence to this being the case.

That is my opinion and experience. There are likely others on this user forum that have similar experiences. I would ask them to post their experiences on here so that Apple have some idea of what is going on in their user space, and the inconvenience that their product, one of the most used in the world, is causing us.

Hi Actionmarker,
I appologise if you took my response personally. It was not intended to be directed at you personally, but to show that it is not acceptable for Apple to ignore such an issue where it's users are being forced to come up with convoluted "solutions" to issues that they should be addressing rather than ignoring.

The fact that I am now posting this here, is because of my frustration with the official channels. I am sick of being ignored on this issue and having so called experts run me through a script of stuff that does not work for me, and causes a great deal of inconvenience.

If I had been able to get some reasonable response from Apple, I would not be expressing my ire here. My ire is toward Apple, not toward it's users.

Again, I am sorry if you took this personally.

If anyone has some better way to contact Apple and be heard on such an issue, please let me know. I would be glad to do take my ire to the it's source, rather than here.
Cheers

Thanks guyz for everything you wrote, and about me deleting all of my data, well lets say that's a bit of problem for me hence there is some critical data for me on it !!

Now am living with the problem somehow till I have the time to extract all my data and start to use android or any really smart phone.

For me, I put it all on Apple, I mean its an OS so it has a processes, if I cant control them, how could I at least trust the privacy of this OS ?, I must kill all what ever process I want when ever I want !!

Someone really have to start an Anti-apple policy organization or something !! :P, I mean what ever to make them notice the most important stakeholder in their company .. THE CUSTOMER !!

Peace 🙂

I just found out what is the problem, after a long time of struggling, well if you need the bottom line and don't want to read much, am gona throw out my iphone.

Here's the complete story, after all my last updates,I took my phone to one handyman who is supposed to be a professional in hardware, he opened my phone and delivered to me the unfortunate news, that my phone have some kind of an IC broken, and if he is going to fix it I will have two options
1- everything is fixed and ok
2- I'll get a dead phone with no chance to have it back
3- to close the phone and get it back accept it the way it is.

so normally my choice was number 3 User uploaded file
but guess what ?!, my bad luck interfered and when I got my phone back it has no SIGNAL !!

so to let my long story short, there is no way to fix it and am gona throw it in the garbage !!
