Old VST Smartdisk External Floppy drive

Will an older floppy disk drive still work with SL? I have an old (but like new) VST Smartdisk floppy drive that I want to use. I didn't want to plug it in untill I did some consulting, but I can't even find smartdisk's website anymore.

Plug it in and find out. OS X provides virtually no support for floppy drives. If the one you have uses USB then it may work. If it requires proprietary drivers then you will likely be out of luck.

thanks. I was a bit nervous to plug such an old piece of technology into a new MBP. I remember it working with 10.2 and 10.3, however, but I thought 10.5 and 10.6 changed things up enough as to not work anymore.
I have always thought the drivers were built into the OS.

well, plugged it in, works like a charm. I have kept it protected since I bought it in 2000. Snow Leopard seemed to deal with it fine.
