Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I think i have downloaded Flash Player for my new iMac but when i go to sites that require flash player it still does not work. I am sure i am doing something wrong as this is my first mac.
When you downloaded Flash, what happened? Did you just do a download or did you also install? Did it download as a disk image to the desktop? If so, click on it to open and install.

It did download as an image on the desk top and i installed it as requested. It said it had been installed succesfully but when i went to a flas site it still reuested i download flash player.
I'm mentioning this because some sites are not very sophisticated or savvy enough to figure out that you are on a Mac, so they can't read your system and therefore might display the standard notice that you need Flashplayer.
And please make sure that your profile is up to date - it doesn't show in your subsequent posts.
Most software today tells you that it wants the computer to reboot, but it is always a good idea after an installation.
Before doing that, however, go to utilities and run disk utility, select the hard drive and repair permissions. Some installers have a habit of not setting permissions correctly and DU is always good to run after all installations.
If Flash has installed normally - you'll see two Flash files in
HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ along with other plugins
Flash Player.plugin and
flashplayer.xpt
there will also be an entry in *Safari-Help-Installed Plug-ins* for
Shockwave Flash Shockwave Flash 10.x rxyz — from file “Flash Player.plugin”.
The latter will be completely blank if plugins are not enabled in Safari-Preferences-Security
----
Do you have the files in the right place? does Flash show in *Safari-Help-Installed Plug-ins* ?
