Adobe for Ipad

I've noticed several times now when searching web sites there is content that requires "adobe flash" or other adobe software. When I try to install it, I get a message saying something to the effect that Apple does not support Adobe software on IPad.

So, is there an App or something I can use on the Ipad to see video content or even photos from web sites that require "Flash" or other Adobe software?

I think it's pretty lousy that one of the big selling points of the Ipad is that it offers you a "full internet viewing experience" however I'm finding that it "DOES NOT".

Any suggestions, ideas, thoughts?

Thanks,

Ehren

Yeah, U-Tube has an I-phone app too but it doesn't work with 80% of the material because it doesn't support flash!!!!!!!!!! These devices are virtually useless right now. I don't understand why people buy them. I have a brand new 32g I-pad that I would sell for 2/3 the price I paid for it. Less than 2 hours use. Any offers? Yeah, I thought so. It isn't worth 1/2 what he is charging for these things.

How could anyone respond +in the middle+ of your post?
I'd pay 2/3 the price for one but I wouldn't purchase from you for one quarter the price.

A pile of silly b.s., from beginning to end. Tell you what, my boy; put your new iPad up for sale on the Seattle craigslist at that ridiculous price, then just move your dusty butt out of the way. If nobody buys it in three days then I will. Mention Flash in your text so I'll know it's you.

So 80% of YouTube is missing because of lack of Flash? And you calculated that just how, again? Oh, never mind ....

My, my, how fortunate I am, then, that my last submission is still available here on the iPad app and I'm in the top 20%! I was really surprised to discover that, especially seeing as how it's 2+45 of fairly crappy indoor video of my daughter's cat, shot on a Nano, posted up in May of last year and had, I think, 109 views. Or maybe 110 now!

Looking forward to seeing your ad in CL and I'm glad you're doing this and that I ran across it in time. The other, slightly brighter bulbs in the pack would have probably figured out they'd do way better by just taking their unit back to Apple ...

I've never had a problem with a Youtube video not working on my Ipad.

This original post of mine has sure struck a nerve!

I will say this.

Even though the Ipad may have some minor flaws, and I mean very minor, I still think it is the greatest piece of technology I have ever owned!! I only wish I could have gotten the 64Gb, however in a year or two, I'll just upgrade to the top IPad and give this one to my kids.

Yes, I use the Youtube app that came with the Ipad. I thought that was what the other post was referring to.
I've never tried to use Safari, go to Youtube and then search for videos. Again, I don't search that many and every time I've done a search using the App, I've pretty much always found what I was looking for. I guess I didn't even realize there was that much more content available on the actual Youtube web page that you wouldn't have access to through the Youtube App.
I always thought the "App" was just more of a quick link and a streamline version of Youtube, I didn't really think about it as having a lot less content available.

Doesn't help that Google just baked Flash right into their new chrome browser, which they are pushing really hard for mobile, and desktop use.

Also doesn't help that they just dropped h.264 video support for the html5 spec coming out in the next 5 years, in favor of a more open format also supported by firefox.

Two things Apple is fighting against, Google recently made best friends with. And the things Apple are supporting Google has now dropped.

Two years ago (or so) YouTube finished converting all of the videos on their site to h.264. So I don't see the problem with playing YouTube videos on the iPad. I've never have gotten you need flash to play this video in either the YouTube app or Safari. The only way you can have a problem playing a video if the person who posted the video flagged the video not to play on a mobile device. This flag can be set in the video settings. I have posted a video a few times music videos and YouTube has set this flag not to play on a mobile device because of copyrighted material in the video. YouTube can a does flag videos only to play in certain countries.

Bottom line... There is a reason why a video doesn't play on the iPad and only YouTube can answer that question. As for searching for video... never had a problem with searches.

You might want to read the above to get your facts straight. The are proposing a "Flash-like" plugin for WebM, which is open source and what is used in Chrome. Or, yet another challenge to Flash. So I guess you should have stated it was 2 things Adobe is fighting against.

Again, didn't you return your iPad?

David, all I am saying is
1) on the main site - www.youtube.com - there are more videos than there are available on the iPad app. This can easily be highlighted if you search for something fairly obscure and compare the number of hits. It's not really possible with popular searches as the iPad app doesn't say how many hits there are, and wading through dozens and dozens of pages obviously isn't practical.
2) on the iPad, using a browser like iCab or Atomic, which can identify themselves as desktop rather than mobile, there are problems viewing (some) videos on Youtube because of Flash.
