Mac App Store - No Credit Card

Hello,

I have been trying to figure out how the **** I'm supposed to accept the new T&C of the Mac App Store without a credit card. I do not and will not own a credit card but the option to select 'None' is not present in the Mac App Store.

Any Help? D:

From what I gather, existing accounts will not have the option of "no credit card"

Not true. Please do not spread this around.

What is not apparent to some folks is that they should use their iTunes account ID if they already have one, and not use their Apple ID if it is different from their iTunes ID. The configuration of your iTunes account is what the App Store account uses and I have spent the first day of the new App Store experiementing with the different senarios folks have posted here in this new forum with my account and it works perfectly.

What I would suggest is that if someone who wishes to use the new App Store does not have an iTunes account, then go to iTunes Store first and establish an account there. Configure the iTunes account as you want to use it, with a bank card or without a bank card, 1-click shopping or password restricted shopping, etc. After the iTunes account is set up to your liking then open the App Store and sign in with your iTunes account ID and password.

Besides, I don't get why adding payment information to an account improves security

They can verify your CC account info matches your iTunes account info.
If your Mac App store/iTunes ID address is in Toronto and the CC is from Geneva, they don't match.
especially if it is only necessary for the Mac App Store.

It's necessary for the iTunes store also (but it is the same account).

But you're wrong about the iTunes store,

No. I did not have to enter any info in teh Mac App store except my password. It showed the correct info & card balance that I have in the iTunes store.
What I don't understand is why some people are able to download apps even without payment information.

Because their accounts are already verified.

I don't have any payment information and I can download apps.

Due to *recent issues with unauthorized users getting into iTunes accounts,* users have needed to verify accounts *by adding a credit card.*

If you need a password to access an iTunes account, how are these unauthorized users getting in?

Once the account is verified, the CC info can be removed.

If you do not own a cc, you cannot use the App Store?

Chris I am not going to create a dummy account to test, but I do not think that you have to have a bank card to open and set up an iTunes account, nor must you maintain a bank card. Because of the very issue of hackers that you have pointed out, I do not maintain a bank card in my account. I enter the info when I wish to buy something and remove it immediately afterward. I have no issues using iTunes Store or the App Store with my account.

Look, all I know is that I have my iTunes account/Apple ID for about 3 years or so. I've created it the way the above tutorial explains. I've used gift cards succesfully. I'm able to buy anything I want from the iTunes store and iOS app store using my remaining credit. In the Mac App store I can see my remaining credit. Chris, could you please explain to me what you did so your account is "verified" and mine is not?
