As you may already know, LEGO Harry Potter is currently unavailable on the App Store. We're working with Apple to fix the problem, but it's unlikely to be back on the store until after the weekend. In the meantime, if you've already bought it from the App Store, we want you to be able to play the game! So here's what we're going to do: If you purchased the game from the App Store, you will have received an email receipt with an order number. Forward that email receipt to us and we'll email you a link to download the game from our website, and a Product Key to activate it.
Thanks for your patience, everyone… it's going to be a long weekend!
THANK YOU!! — our son is very eager to begin playing the game, and will be thrilled when we tell him that this will be possible this weekend instead of “sometime in the future, once everything gets sorted out.” I am sorry that this will make for a long weekend for your team, but I greatly appreciate your dedication and your willingness to make this right for me as a customer.
I wrote to Apple Support and got the following response (editted):
"If the Mac App Store did not automatically prompt to restart the download, you can click the Restart or Install button for the app on the Purchases pane.
Please not that this can be done on Mac App Store application can this can't be resume on iTunes Store application."
I've gone back again explaining, again, that I can't download as the app is not in the purchases screen or anywhere currently in the store!!
As you know LEGO Harry Potter has been removed from the store at this time. We are working with Apple to solve the problems and should have them solved in the next few days.
If you have bought the game and cannot play have a look further up the thread and you will find instructions on how you can get the game direct from our website so you can get playing as quickly as possible.
apple contacted me and they issued me a refund which is great, but no apology for the screw up, no admission that they did something shady, that burns me.
Edwin is a champ though for helping everyone get this game, i'm over it, maybe i'll re-purchase it down the line but i'm waiting a while till i have a better sense that the Mac App store is what apple professes it to be.
No such response for me, just a misdiagnosis by Apple of my issue.
I recognise Edwin & feral are doing their best; but I'm now 6 hours into the download of the link they provided with indicators of another 19 hours to go. The App store download was far faster than this, (until it broke).
Australia is hard place to provide high speed Internet without using locally based mirror servers, as we have had to react quickly we have not have time to get a mirror in place for Australian customers.
Winning the Ashes was a nice feeling but we would not deliberately slow down you download, maybe if we had lost.... 😉
If you have any questions just email me at the hogwarts email address.
