I had the same problem and reached this thread when searching for the solution. Turned out you just need to logout and re-login and the Twitter service items will go away.

The service menu is built by the system from applications installed. When the application is removed the list is updated when you re-login.

It's not as bad as Windows registry litering. :-)

I have the same problem with the Twitter app. I trashed it, deleted all the preferences I found in Library, but my App Store keeps telling me to update it. When I click update, a strange apple ID appears : "mgoldenberg2011@yahoo.com". I don't know where it came from, I don't even know this person.

I tried to install it from the App Store but I get an error like: "There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (4)" I click ok, than a second box is coming saying : "Unknown error".

So basically I tried everything and I can't get rid of this. Anyone has a suggestion for me ?

Hello, I've had the same problem.

Apparently Twitter is bugged or maybe apple store so if you have any app that is not related to the curently account you are logged, it shows up on update tab.

So I've done the following:

- downloaded Twitter, no matter if you have an acc

- closed the mac app store and open again

- you'll see the twitter app with the "Open" status, click and open

- It'll probably open another app, other than twitter

- close the mac app store

- know delete the full application that twitter just opened

- remove the app from trash ou empyt it

- open the mac app store... the update request might have gone

I did not tested in another mac, but for me did worked.

Hope it help.

I have removed twitter and it continues to send update. I have done this process you describe. Once I remove Twitter and go back into the app store, the update is back. I have tried to get Twitter to help but they will only help if they have the listed problem. If anyone could provide Twitter's address and President's name I will write a letter asking for an RMA to ship my Mac to him/her and have him/her fix it so he/she can witness the lousy support they provide!!!! I
am pi$$ed at them as you can tell.
