Cannot Sign In to Mac App Store - Tried Every Way Possible & No Progress.

I'm so disappointed that Apple has left so many of us hanging like this. I've submitted several support inquiries online exactly as their site instructed me to & received no response. Not even an automated one!

Here's what I sent to their Support & if any of you can help me out, I'd be forever grateful:
--

I'm a very savvy and technical user who is also on your iOS & Mac Development Program.

Anyways, I downloaded & installed the 10.6.6 Combo Update on my work iMac & had no issues accessing the Mac App Store.

I used the exact same Combo Update on my home iMac & had no errors, however, when I launch the Mac App Store, I can click anything and get a response BESIDES Sign In, Account or BUY NOW.

For whatever reason, my home iMac won't let me log into my Apple ID (please don't ask me to reset my password or something try to reboot; trust me, I wouldn't be writing you if it wasn't serious. I tried everything, including a reinstall of the 10.6.6 update. Nothing changes the fact that it won't give me the sign in dialog where I'd type my Username & Password).

PLEASE HELP - I really want to anxiously start buying some apps & cannot log into this store no matter what I try. I'm convinced it's absolutely a software bug.

Do you perhaps have an INDIVIDUAL INSTALLER of the Mac App Store that I can download? Please don't tell me to redownload the combo update. I did three times already.

Also, both the Mac App Store on my work & home iMacs read Version 1.0 (54) - so why would one work & the other not work???? I'm convinced that there's a small yet critical bug here & that I'm not the only one having this issue. It's really upsetting that Apple released such poortly tested software that apparently has so many people unable to use it.

I hope that you can help & make this work for me ASAP.

Please respond ASAP - I really hope someone actually reads this issue & sends me a useful reply, and not some canned message.

Thank you.

Hi there i did some research and i have been trying to fix this for a day now.. Two things weren't working on my computer i couldn't sign into the App store and also my eithernet port wasn't working on my mac mini only the wireless would work.. No matter what i did restart try different cords reset my modem all the above i finally talked to someone at mac and he told me to try reseting the (SMC) on my computer here is the link he gave me

Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)

Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM

All i had to do for my Mac Mini is 1. Shut down. 2. Unplug power supply. 3. Leave unpluged for 15 seconds. 4. Plug power supply back in and wait 5 seconds. 5. Turn on. That made all the issues i was having go away. I could sign into App store and my eithernet started working again. I hope this helped all of you!!

Hi. I am new to the world of apple and bought a Ipad2. I had the same problem on my it. This worked for me.

1.) Signed out of the app store.

2.) Pushed both the square on front of tablet and the side button (or top button depending how you see it)

3.) held both buttons until machine turned off and the apple logo came on.

4.) after logo died pressed square to turn on.

5.) returned to settings/store/signin. It opened a blank sign in window

Hope this helps someone.

Hi just solved this problem on my Mac Pro runnning OSX 10.6.8 where the sign in and account drop down windows did not appear, the problem was as discussed earlier in the thread, where the firewall was blocking the application "Store Agent" after changing the permission from block to allow the sign in now appears and the app store works perfectly

I thought I'd share how did I fix mine. In my case I don't have APE, FruitMenu, the 32bit trick and removing of .plist files didn't work.

Instead I have an app called LittleSnitch wherein somehow I must have accidentally deny all connections from storeagent binary. I just set it to allow all connection and everything wen't fine. 🙂

Hi guys

I'm still having problems signin' in to the app store. I'm having this problem for almost two weeks now. The following message appears: "Your device or computer could not be verified. Contact support for assistance."

Also, when I try to launch iTunes it immediately crashes as it starts to sync my music from iTunes Match. Only when I disable my internet connection I can open it. And it only keeps running if I disable iTunes Match as well. If not, iTunes crashes again from the moment I connect to the internet.

Signing in from my iPhone is no problem so it's really a problem with my Macbook Pro I guess. However, I don't have any firewall apps like LittleSnitch installed so I'm quite desperate here.

Thanks in advance!

Vincent

Hi vincent try this, Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) or Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM. I called mac support and the sent me a email with both of these links. I tried it and it worked for me. My mac mini was doing and saying the same thing. I just reset the SMC and it fixed 2 things, my app store problem also my computer would only hook up to the internet through wireless and not a land line and it fixed that too.

YES! for me it was Nortons firewall the whole time!!! tried next to everything on here until (perhaps stupidly) Ichecked Nortons setting, sure enough it was. here's how it went down:

1) try loging into the appstore-you will now establish the "block" history in norton.

2) got to norton firewall application and under the status tab, view history...you will see recently allowed and blocked items...you may also noticed (as was my case) that the app store application, storeagent, etc were just blocked.

3) if certain items were blocked, go to the firewall tab, click on the configure button on connection blocking, click add application, then select the app store, etc to allow connections click done

4) still in firewall tab, click configure on application blocking, scroll down the various application paths and find the items that were recently blocked (for me I allowed the storeagent and submitdiaginfo-as those were just blocked per my history)

5) try the app store-hopefully the window now pops up for you

if this doesn't work for you, just start at page one of the thread and work the solutions until it clicks-mine ended up being stupidity on my part-but there seems to be TONS of issues that cause this same problem.

chalk one up for the computer illiterate
