Cannot Sign In to Mac App Store - Tried Every Way Possible & No Progress.

I'm so disappointed that Apple has left so many of us hanging like this. I've submitted several support inquiries online exactly as their site instructed me to & received no response. Not even an automated one!

Here's what I sent to their Support & if any of you can help me out, I'd be forever grateful:
--

I'm a very savvy and technical user who is also on your iOS & Mac Development Program.

Anyways, I downloaded & installed the 10.6.6 Combo Update on my work iMac & had no issues accessing the Mac App Store.

I used the exact same Combo Update on my home iMac & had no errors, however, when I launch the Mac App Store, I can click anything and get a response BESIDES Sign In, Account or BUY NOW.

For whatever reason, my home iMac won't let me log into my Apple ID (please don't ask me to reset my password or something try to reboot; trust me, I wouldn't be writing you if it wasn't serious. I tried everything, including a reinstall of the 10.6.6 update. Nothing changes the fact that it won't give me the sign in dialog where I'd type my Username & Password).

PLEASE HELP - I really want to anxiously start buying some apps & cannot log into this store no matter what I try. I'm convinced it's absolutely a software bug.

Do you perhaps have an INDIVIDUAL INSTALLER of the Mac App Store that I can download? Please don't tell me to redownload the combo update. I did three times already.

Also, both the Mac App Store on my work & home iMacs read Version 1.0 (54) - so why would one work & the other not work???? I'm convinced that there's a small yet critical bug here & that I'm not the only one having this issue. It's really upsetting that Apple released such poortly tested software that apparently has so many people unable to use it.

I hope that you can help & make this work for me ASAP.

Please respond ASAP - I really hope someone actually reads this issue & sends me a useful reply, and not some canned message.

Thank you.

So hi here, hope i can help you guys out (this is my second post😁)

I didn't have exactly the problem you guys had, though a similar one. every time i tried to download an app/update, they ask you for your password, right? You see your email address (apple id) and have to type the password. Unfortunately, every time i hit the enter button, the "waiting-circle" rotates and rotates an rotates... and it could rotate hours! Solution: press cancel. But that's not a real solution, right?

Maybe have to say that I'm on Mac os x lion 10.7.1 right now (if that matters).

So I came o an interesting article somewhere on the web, where it says how to enable the debug menu in the Mac app store via Terminal:

Enable the Mac App Store hidden Debug menu

Precautions aside, here is how to enable the hidden Debug menu options:

  • Quit the Mac App Store
  • Launch the Terminal (located at /Applications/Utilities/)
  • Type the following command into the Terminal and then hit return:

defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true

Relaunch the Mac App Store, the Debug menu is next to “Help” in the menubar

So now to the interesting part: what me helped was to select "clear cookies" in the debug menu first, and second to select "reset Application".

Hope I can at least help someone🙂

I still have not gotten a fix. I maybe wrong but the problem has got to be a glich on the Mac App Store side. Here's why– I have a partitioned harddrive with latest version of Snow Leopard and the latest version of Lion. Both these OS have the same problem with Mac App Store. The only place it works is on my iPad and iPhone.

I can't believe after all these pages and other post Apple has not addessed this.

PS: I can't update the Lion OS and can't use any apps purchased thru Mac App Store.

Hi there,

I've had the same issue till now.

The problem came out after installing last version of Glims. Since that moment, I was not able anymore to connect to Apple Store.

Mailed the support of Glims which has been incredible quick, friendly and helpful, we figured out that the only thing to do was to upgrade Little Snitch to the latest version.

Did it and now all is working fine.

I don't know why this happened.

Reading these posts I realize that problems are all coming form firewall or similar so I guess the first thing to do is try to update to the latest version those sfotware.

Also try to remember what we did before all this started can be helpful for a step back.

Hope that can help anybody else.

Special thank goes to the support of Glims, Jim, that has been great!

Thank you again,

Domes

I found this solution on the internet somewhere, it worked for me and might work in your case too.

  1. Sign out of the Mac App Store (if you're signed in)
  2. Close the Mac App Store
  3. Sign out of the iTunes store from iTunes then close iTunes
  4. Log out of your user account then log back in
  5. Sign in to the Mac App Store
  6. Sign in to the iTunes Store
