Problem after 10.6.6 update! MDS running from the start on activity monitor

Hello,

I have a iMac late 2009 and yesteday <unfortunately> I did the update 10.6.6! Before everything was working great cause I care the system with clean my iMac and other applications everyday and mostly I use recording programs like Pro Tools. After update the restart came and iMac's CPU was jumping at 20-30% without touching anything! I saw on Activity Monitor and <mds> was running! I want to ask what is that and how I can remove it and not running all the time. I close it from Activity Monitor every time the system starts but I want to remove it and don't see it as it wasn't before! After reading other topics, I did verify and repair permissions from Disk Utility and Mac Osx disc but mds starts when system boot.

since updating to 10.6.6 my MBP freezes non-stop. i’m beyond over this issue. i’ve reformatted my mbp 2x now it hopes it was a HD issue. reformatted with 10.6 and it ran great for 3-4 days, then updated again to 10.6.6 and BAM runs like crap!

If Spotlight now indexes your Bootcamp (NTFS) partition that would mean that Apple turned on NTFS write capability. I hope they fixed the driver beforehand, because it was not able to write error-free before (you could force it to turn on write capability via Terminal).

Did Apple enable indexing of bootcamp in 10.6.6 for the first time or enable it by default for the first time? This is definitely bogging down the system for the first few minutes of usage after bootup. Loading webpages is slow or involves the spinner.

Could Apple design the tool to run only when the user is idle?

One problem is that more and more users are power conscious laptop users that don't leave their computer powered up while not in use, so the opportunity to index and perform other maintenance while idle is greatly diminished. Apple should think of a way to wake up a computer while plugged in for maintenance and shut itself back down when finished.
