Battery - the usage and standby always the same

I have an iphone 4 running 4.1. suddenly since last week the usage and standby time is always the same.

I run my charge down completely until it turns off, then I leave it charged past 100%, but when i start using it they are both the same.

hi I have the same problem with my iphone 4s and i had installed an app from the store to see wich process is running in the background and I found out that it was the Iphone-Music who was constantly runing and you cant turn it off its there with the software and is draining the battery constantly even if I dont have any music on my device . I have tryed everything turn off location services reset hard reset and it didnt help I think that it may be a docking station or something who caused that error but as you can read in all the posts about the battery and standby usage there can be many facts who are causing that issue . Try to get that app and see witch process is constantly draining youre battery.

THIS IS THE REAL SOLUTION: go to settings>General>reset>reset all settings. This fix thr problem when the ipad starts again the usage and standby counters would be different and the battery will work properly (note:when you reset all settings apps and things that you have dont reset. The only things that reset are the hour, notifications etc)

Thanks - that does seem to have helped. I don't feel quite so tethered to the power supply now ;-). I did lose some of my settings (wallpaper, sounds, wifi passwords, etc) but nothing I couldn't put back quite easily.

If this is resolved with a reset then surely it's something Apple should be able to track down and fix quite easily - it seems to have been something that's been going on for a long time. Perhaps the next update will fix it...?

So, it looks like there's a multitude of different solutions but all have the same reason, a rogue app running in the background that won't shut down.

I've just had the same issue, a DFU reset in the iStore failed to solve the issue once I'd restored my apps. Searching round the net I found another thread suggesting location services may be the cuplrit, so I checked mine and found an app I'd recently installed (possibly when the issue started) "Field Trip" by Google of all people was constantly accessing the gps function. I've removed the app, shutdown and restarted the phone and the GPS icon has now gone. Now recharging the phone to 100% to see if the usage=standby has resolved too.

May not be the answer for everyone but hopefully useful to some 🙂

PS Could it be a sneak attack on iPhone users by Google !!! 👿
