Need to view WMV movies on my iPad
iOS 4, iPad

A very good one also is VLC Media Player, available for all OS and iOS.
AVPlayer HD does the job!
There is no vlc for ios available officially, it can't be installed unless you jailbreak.
NOt worth it to watch wmv.
There is VLC officially available for iOS, I use it already for a long time, and also the OSX and both are very good, much better than Quicktime with a plugin.
Look at the site.
VLC was removed from the app store over a year ago due to of the VLC people lodging a complaint.
If it is not in the app store-it can not be installed on a non-jailbroken device.
Just because it is on VLC's site does not make it installable.
Yes I know, but you can get from the VLC site for all iOS and OS. Why do you think you need a jailbreak? Ridiculous.
Straight from the horse's mouth (or at least its Web-site, http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-ios.html)
"VLC for iOS requires at least an iPhone 3GS or a 3rd generation iPod touch or an iPad (any generation) running iOS 3.2 or later."
Now, that seems fairly straightforward.....
;-)
Yes, but where on that page do you download the app? There is source code, but how would you install the app on the ipad? There is no VLC app currently in the App Store. So I'm also wondering how those of you that proclaim that you've loaded it, have done so since the App was removed from the App Store.
I tried MoliPlayer HD. I can hear the audio of my wmv video, but I can't see the video. Any idea what's wrong? The same think happens with Azul. I am a teacher and am trying to create videos to help my students through an educational website. The videos are created on my SMART board using SMART record, and they are saved as WMV videos. They play just fine in Windows Media Player, so I figured I could use Azul or MoliPlayer to view them on my ipad. Some of my students want to use ipads to view the videos, so I'm trying to find a way to help them. Thanks for any advice you can give.
Try Power Player or Good Player they work for my WMV's
VLC has been available again for some time now. It's in the App Store.
Azul worked for me. I initially had difficulty because the file was in google drive, so I emailed Omar and he responded within an hour! It took a couple emails back and forth but he was finally able to talk me through it. I NEVER leave reviews on apps but have never had that good of customer service! I HIGHLY recommend you try Azul simply for the reason that he backs it up with incredible one on one support.
Download "PlayerXtreme" app from the app store. Then connect your ipad to the same wifi router as your computer and type "http://192.168.1.12:1234" There you will be able to upload wmv to your ipad without using itunes and getting that not supported prompt. It also supports other video formats enjoy!!!
