Can you upload files from the iPad to a Web Browers

I recently received an iPad and I love it. I would also love to leave my laptop at home and only use the iPad while I'm away. One thing I think is missing for this to be possible is the lack of a native filesystem, as far as I know.

I know there are many apps that allow you to store and sync documents but I can't find a way to upload files to a website. For example, if I'm on a job site that requires me to upload my resume, the browse button on the browser is not active. I can't upload the files using the documents I've stored in Pages or in readdledocs.

Does anyone else think this is a major shortcoming?
Is there a way to do that I'm not aware of?

You assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

joe

The way this problem is going to be solved is by CareerBuilder developing an app that is capable of interacting with iOS as it is. Whether that means sucking in a resume via Dropbox or some other means is for the techies to figure out. Until someone chimes in saying that they succeeded in posting a resume to Dropbox from an unjailbroken iPad, users would be wise to NOT purchase any of the mentioned apps with the CareerBuilder site in mind.

Underemployed developers should talk to CareerBuilder about how they could upgrade their site or App.

Hi iJerOmy!

I will presume that you are involved in the development of iUploader, since it was released just a day prior to your post. If so, I commend you for the efforts. I have downloaded the App and it looks promising. It states that it is ready to go for Monster.com and CraigsList, but most other sites will require a little bit of tinkering by the sites themselves before it will work. I came to this page for having the issue with CareerBuilders.com, and while it does not appear to be working quite yet, if that happens I will return and sing the Apps praises for moving us closer to where we need to be! Despite some people's assertions to the contrary in this forum, Steve Jobs for one believed that mobile devices would in fact evolve into being fully functional devices for content creation as well as consumption, and this may well take us one step closer.
The iPad and iOS lack a file handling system. As such, there's no way to hit a Browse button on some external site, drill down I to your iPad's file structure, and start a file transfer. This are all OS functions that just don't exist on mobile devices.
That's not quite true. My old Windows Mobile device had a file system. Files could easily be uploaded through the browser. From what I understand it's also possible in the Android operating system. iOS lacks a file system because of Apple's decision to "sandbox" apps for security reasons.

Recession Apps, YOU DID IT!

This is the solution to the question that originally brought me to this forum. The key piece of info that it took me a while to understand is that iUploader has a builtin browser and you have to go to CareerBuilder.com within that self-contained browser for the functionality to be invoked when "depressing" Browse for a file. I had been trying to do it on Safari or other alternative browsers.

Thanks for filling the void. I'll write you a nice review on the App store when I'm inthe mood.
