Problems converting Keynote to Powerpoint after Jan update

Having done the requested IWork upgrade it seems impossible to read a keynote presentation that's been converted to Powerpoint. I did it on an old Mac without the recent Jan 2011 update and worked fine. When I copied the converted Powerpoint pres back to the new mac with the update, it wouldn't read it! I suspect the latest keynote update has caused the problem...any advice on what to do would be most welcome

thanks

macbook, Mac OS X (10.6.3)

If this will help anyone:

I'm running Keynote '09.

Export Keynote presentation to PowerPoint.

Using Microsoft PowerPoint for Mac 2001...trying to open the new PowerPoint file, and get the error messages as many have mentioned, and file won't open.

Tried ungrouping, but nothing was grouped anyway, except for a couple of master pages.

What finally worked was that I had applied "Picture Frame" to most of my graphics. When I unchecked the "Picture Frames" and export the file to PowerPoint again, it worked OK.

So now I'll have to do my picture frames some other way, but at least the file works.

You misunderstand the issue in this rather old discussion from 2011 which were resolved with the update for Keynote at that time.

The format options in exporting for PowerPoint allow for two different filetypes;

1 - pptx an xml based filetype compatible with PowerPoint 2004 onwards,

2 - ppt, a non-xml based filetype compatible with Powerpoint 2003 and earlier.

The choice of filetype will be dependant on which version of PowerPoint will be used

It's 2016 and I exported my Keynote presentation to the default pptx format.

I had the same issue when opening in Microsoft Powerpoint 2008.

The pages were blank.

What I found was that Keynote gives you the option of exporting as a pptx file (under Advanced Options once you select "Export" or ppt file (1997 to 2003 PPT compatible). Even though my version of Powepoint was 2008 it did properly open once I exported my Keynote file as .ppt.
