Question

Getting Model Identifier # from clients

Where can I find the model identifier number (like iMac8,1 MacPro3,1, etc) on ARD client computers?

iMac 27" i7 (Mid 2010) / 8GB, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

Hi

I've looked at the interface and I don't think this is available as an option? One of the other guys may know of a way? You could do this easily using this command:

system_profiler SPHardwareDataType | grep "Model Identifier" | awk '{ print $3; }

Just tried running it in the Remote Desktop>Send UNIX command this morning and got this error:

*/bin/bash: line 1: unexpected EOF while looking for matching `''*
*/bin/bash: line 2: syntax error: unexpected end of file*

Sorry, I'm not a UNIX guy. Any ideas?

Hello Navarro

Apologies. The command should be:

system_profiler SPHardwareDataType | grep "Model Identifier" | awk '{ print $3; }'

Notice the extra apostrophe at the end.
