Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 now not working with 10.6.6

I have been using this Bluetooth mouse for quite a while until I updated the OS last week to 10.6.6. Now the mouse doesn't work. I went to Microsoft and downloaded a driver even though it really shouldn't be needed. Still no success.

Has anyone else had a problem like this? I must bought this mouse. The computer detects the mouse fine, it just doesn't know what to do with it now. I removed it from the list and started the detection over again and it didn't help.

Thanks

Peter

If it can be of any help for others in my situation, thigs sorted out this way:

after the blue screen I never restarted the system in Windows mode. Two days ago I did it and the mouse paired successfully in windows mode. After that I restarted in OSX mode and the mouse paired successfully as well.

I hope this is not a random thing and maybe it works for others in my situation!

I had the same problems, my mouse has been disconnecting off and on for several days.

The only thing that works is totally disabling the bluetooth on my mac, and taking the batteries out of the mouse for 30 seconds.

Then I enable the bluetooth, open the preferences and click on the plus sign to add a new device. Then I turn on the mouse, and hold down the discoverable button and click continue on the computer screen. Voila!

I followed the suggestion to hold the Bluetooth button down but and got the same message above about not being able to link for supported or invalid settings.
I went into System Preferences->Bluetooth->Devices and deleted the entry for my mouse. Then clicked okay to setup a new device, let the search start, then turn on the mouse and pressed the bluetooth button until it went red. It was then identified and I asked it to link. It worked!
I upgraded from 10.3 so perhaps the jump was too far for the link to remain secure/paired. Deleting the entry appeared to allow the link to be created cleanly.
Good luck!

It worked for me.Thank you E-Systems
